Herding & Strength

Post by Markov »

I was just wondering if gains in herding are needed in order to raise strength? Or is it possible to lock herding and macro it in order to gain strength?

In order to gain stats you gotta gain skill, so you won't gain if it's locked

if you're maxxed out in skill, lock everything except herding and point herding up. you can gain stats without gaining skill.

Correction, Panthor, you have to have a skill set to drop too or you wont gain in herding

the arrow has to be pointing up in order for you to gain the associated stat, but i don't think you actually have to gain the skill.

No? then whats the point in having to set herding to gain if you don't actually have to gain?

If the arrow next to a skill is pointing up, then you can gain stats off of that skill. Nothing more to it

Ok so...I put this little "no skill gain" theory to the test and you guys are correct. I was wrong and am admitting it. Although, I started at 52 dex and 0.0 fencing locked. I started beating on a training dummy about an hour ago and finally gained a point in dex. I almost called you all stupid and wrong but alas, you are not. I was. Now next question: Wouldn't it be much faster to teeter totter 2 skills. Because I find it much faster that way.

My understanding is yes you can gain stats that way if you are maxed out skill wise (7x) but the stat gains are extremely slow

fencing is terrible for dex, which is why no one would lock it and fight a training dummy to gain dex

Its slower if you don't gain skill but you can still max your stats without reducing a skill when needed. Try snooping if you want to test this so much (not sure why you're bothering to argue this though).
