why are mobs 'seeing' me in a house?

I just logged on and three monsters from outside immediately ran towards the house I logged on in and are milling around the outside. Doesn't make much sense. I remember posting before something about mobs seeing you in situations they shouldn't, tending to walk towards you before you aggro on them, when there is no line of site from them to you. Is that correct?

Apparently it has been "proven to be" era accurate, thus the infamous patch 132 came to pass.
