Actually, Darkness is incredibly hard to impliment in RunUO.

Trust me - I've tried, as have others.

Current belief is that there needs to be a certain amount of client.exe hacking to An Corp the Darkness Spell.

However, here's an image for you to think about.

Well, can you do it with the razor and runuo server negotiation files? It would Require razor at that point, but is it possible to disable the Light Levels in Razor and implement Dark Nights through Razor?

Razor itself isn't capable of pinpoint localized negative-lighting beyond a certain point.

Modifying the client also obtains only results that are above-zero.

Troubled times.

Say, anyone have copies of the Alpha or Betas?

Is there any way, that you could get dark nights in a certain area? Isn't it possible to have a instanced region that had its time changed to nightfall coupled with dark nights? Cuz Dark Nights is really dark if there's no lanterns around.

Can you override CanSee to return false?

See those webs in the trees. There used to be webs that spawned similar to that around overland spider spawns on production shards. They would block movement. Occasionally there were cocoons too. Am I the only one that remembers that?

My friend played beta Im seeing if he has a copy.

Could the darkness spell have just been a rehued reshaped field spell like gate travel? And just overlays the field of view like gate does?

As far as I know .. in order for his this to work .. you would have to limit razor or disable razor.. Both of which have been talked about .. Glad to hear new voices though..

You can just do a gump of Black that is bigger than the screen size to accomplish the effect. One that cannot be closed...but it kinda kills the part of lighting a lantern and having a bubble in the darkness and whatnot.

Gumps can be easily edited, as well - the implimentation of 'em requires a custom patch agreed upon by the players. Since it'd be easy to work around it, the spell couldn't be useful in PvP and hence wouldn't be useful at all.
Monsters really don't care if someone turns out the lights.. See proof here:

Research has been put into the ability to disable the Razor Light filter, server-side... and some success has been made!
I don't play with the filter, myself. Call my a hopeless romantic, but I like the ambiance ;)

That's a pretty swank piece. UO is littered with half-complete systems that eventually were forgotten.

It's always fascinating to find gems like this.. Makes you wonder what could have been.

If it's UO: Shattered Legacy (the Pre-Alpha), then it exists in the internets and has a public server emulator.

Worth czeching out. For sures.

Yes bicchus i have the client from the pre-alpha (uo shattered legacy), but i think that you are committing an error; screenshots that you are posting abount alpha, are only promotional screenshot, a playable verions of that stage doesn's exist.

Ps sorry for my bad english.

Are there any shards out there that actually are running the shattered legacy emu? Ive had trouble running in the past. Don't recall the specific issue.
