Its dead here
Re: Its dead here
I'm not gonna bother to try yet another shard unless the Bloodrock as a whole goes there...but I can certainly see the complaints of the T2A era against melee.
With the exception of trammel and the massive shift toward a pansy way of playing, UO:R did do a lot of good in balancing things (I think). The weapon specials (paralyze blow, mana blow, etc) added something to melee. The weapon timers. The heal timer being affected by dex. Bola's were plain awesome.
T2A combat is, for the most part, very one sided and on templated.

Re: Its dead here
imo, uosa was ironically more era accurate when the hally was doing ridiculously big (and inaccurate) damage because it mitigated some of the effects of mini-heal being too strong. because of this (miniheal) it's too damn hard to die. pvp is watered down. i also did not like when they took away swing on the run. it still seems off. not too many dexers in these parts because of that.Ronk wrote:I'm not gonna bother to try yet another shard unless the Bloodrock as a whole goes there...but I can certainly see the complaints of the T2A era against melee.

i have already made a thread about this and i am making one more to state my final case; because i believe it's not only inaccurate but is also the reason why people are seeking out alternate shards for PVP & also the reason why we don't have as many mainstays as we should. noobs are popping up, staying for a few months, then letting their houses decay with stuff of value in them. this all has to do with the pvp and the smallest tweak would fix it completely. even back in the day no matter how many times you got spanked, it didn't happen at this rate. end rant for now

Re: Its dead here
I was exited to see swinging on the run implemented, and I think it worked well for the dexers (players who do not cycle weapons). But the problem arose that hally mages were even more supreme then they should have been, hally cycling was to easy to pull off, and you could do it while running full tilt with no delay.
I'm unclear as to why this feature was removed, I don't believe there was a very detailed explanation of why.
I put fourth the idea that the movement restriction should be "semi-lifted", meaning: you are hit with the movement restriction upon equipping a weapon, and only then.
So a dexer, who always has a weapon equipped will only have to pause before his first swing (providing he recently equiped a weapon), all other swings will fully allow swinging on the run.
And a hally cycling mage will have to pause before every hit (as we have now) because he is constantly equipping a weapon.
Implement that pls!
P.S- Matty I am in somewhat agreement when you say this...

Champ spawns are just dumb. I like how uo has a sense of community spirit, people group together and do things and such, but champs spawns seem to segregate smaller groups or individual players. I remember that I tried Final Fantasy online and I couldnt do anything because just to find something to fight you had to wait in a lobby and find a group of people. More things to do is always good, but champ spawns... lame.

lol, I had an awesome melee guy in that game but could never find a group becuase the "tank" spot was filled. I ended up making one of those little white mages and quit soon after =/MatronDeWinter wrote:Champ spawns are just dumb. 2 people can do them if they know what they're doing.-just takes longer
Re: Its dead here
IPY leached a lot of the freeshard community. Give it a year to WTFPWN itself like it did last time and we'll be back to full speed. The good thing about this shard is it seems to have a solid core of players that renews itself. Everyone quits, but everyone comes back. When you get that old itch this is the best shard to scratch it.

Re: Its dead here
Last time FAGPY had me to exploit all the bugs and force a bunch of reverts - especially nearing the end when Fagaroth decided to start implementing his young boy grooming/player justice systems.
He got so angry and blamed me for bringing it down kekeke. He won't have that luxury this time though because this is the only/last shard I will play ^_^

I frequently saw you playing on IPY when I tried it out....Mens Rea wrote:Last time FAGPY had me to exploit all the bugs and force a bunch of reverts - especially nearing the end when Fagaroth decided to start implementing his young boy grooming/player justice systems.

(side note: that shard is a horrid mess of uneven mechanics, exploitation, and rl cash for items)
