Account Termination
Account Termination
Should accounts be terminated for selling off all items and homes to place gold in the bank to come back later?
Re: Account Termination
Huh? Why would you terminate an account for liquidating assets for the future if you were to come back?

Pacific (98-02) - Mystic of FL
Catskills (03-08) - Roo Avery of VIT, T^B
UOSA - Amos Trask/Roo Avery of WTC
Re: Account Termination
can you give a reason why an account should be terminated in such a case?

No. However great lengths should be gone to not to even seemingly solicit for anything other than in game goods.Proto wrote:Should accounts be terminated for selling off all items and homes to place gold in the bank to come back later?
In the example that follows you will see that in all items of value on the shard are being sold in the same post. This has the effect of discouraging offers of items identical to those which are being listed for sale. It is not then likely that any gold offers are going to be made for the items listed (Although there was one, i will attach that below)
Subject: Taking offers
We would maintain that in a case like there there is not a need for burden of proof. Most logic would dictate that this was not an offer for in game gold, as it is gold that is one of the items being sold.Beatingu wrote:Neon red sandals, 6m gold. 7 keeps+ within 3 screens of each other. 5000+ vanqs, 6000+ invil and fort armors. 1 castle. 1k silver. Almost 15 7x characters I've made on this shard. I've gmed 11 resists.

It will also be assumed that any encouraging response to offers that posts on our forums may solicit is evidence of intent. This evidence has been obtained, but will not be provided.
This case in particular goes far beyond the evidence that we would typically require to permanently ban an account which has been offered for sale.
As promised, here was the only on forums reply to the offer:

Re: Account Termination
i know im not like a known player on the shard or some super uo player but i think what derrick did is totally the right action
i cant tell you in how many different games people sell in game items for real life money and it totally f's with the whole economy of the game ... everyone should have the same chance to obtain in game items it should not matter how much money you have out of the game that should not effect what ingame items u are able to obtain.
once you start to allow this type of market to flourish no one even bothers to trade in ingame items its all just usd for items and stuff like this. i think most of us who are still playing this game have jobs and real lives and its no problem to spend money on a hobby but it becomes silly when one guy can buy up all the market or start to make money from the game.
in time people will scam one another in the pursuit of usd this is why this type of transaction must warrant banning. because anyone who takes the time to gain all of this valuable items will not want to lose it all.
we are all playing for fun and no one should be making money off the servers economy. the only money spent should be money to help derrick run and keep the server up.
my .02 cents

Re: Account Termination
Is it just ingame items for money though? What if i solicit the work and time effort to hire someone to level a certain skill for me or farm a specific area for a set amount of time?
Im technically paying irl money for an irl service.

UOSA is not a job and you should not get paid IRL cash of any kind for it .. this being said IRL interaction will happen .. but not for any kind of profit in game or IRL .. Case in point I shipped a IRL (old ass trash computer from the 80) to a well known person who plays the game .. at first I wanted him to send me the shipping cost via paypal or just mail me a shipping label for it and I'd GIVE it to him . less shipping .. however I went to weight it and my scale failed .. so we made an agreement that he would just make a donation to shard (when package came int) in my name for the amount of the shipping (not sure this was done yet) but I gained nothing IRL or in game .. and other then a donation to the shard IRL (FOR MY SHIPPING COST) he lost nothing in game or IRL .. I can see this as ok (it was trash to me but cool to him).. but when you are trying to make IRL money off anything ingame then Ban baby Ban..
I think there should be an addition to the rules page that makes it very clear that player are allowed to interact IRL but that IRL interaction can not be connected to any in game "favors" rewards or anything of that nature.

Re: Account Termination
You go Derrick. I encourage ANYONE ELSE who has any info on anyone else selling in game items for cash to snitch the turds out.......this kind of thing is unacceptable.
Re: Account Termination
If I was BeatingU I would be arguing that my account is an entity in-and-of itself, and the account is sold something akin to how you sell a business - assets/bank accounts and all. This value can be greater if the account/business has a good reputation - this is called "goodwill".
The sum of gold in the bank could be seen as an asset of the account as a whole, and therefore it comes with the account as an entity in-and-of itself - therefore the value of the gold appreciates at the point of sale because it is sold for more gold due to the nature of the account.
It's too bad BeatingU has probably already tried to get by on some kind of nonsense argument which has no basis because it conflicts with what he said.
Terrible shame.
