The "guides" forum is also full of stickies which guide new players on ways to hunt (more) safely, escape when confronted by pks, and not get scammed.

It's unfortunate that people are giving up so easily due to incidents in game which can be fairly easily avoided. I agree that there is plent of grief to go around in-game and that the atmosphere on the forums can be pretty abrasive, but I think that a T2A accurate shard is meant for people with a little back-bone. I'm all for increasing population and embracing new players, however, if you don't deal well with hardship nor have the ability to persevere when bad things happen to you I honestly do not think that this is the right shard for you.

not really the person kept at same habits and people got the best of them the funny thing is i never even seen the person and i been helping new players out plenty and i have griefed tons of people as well some people just aren't cut out and really should go play uor

Not really. Actually, I did not adapt quite well in my one month here. I failed to deal with the condescension and the blatant misogyny - i tried to feel better about this by helping each new player I saw and voiced my unpopular opinions. I had the gall to point out the mixed message of extending a left hand to new players while slapping them across the face with the right.*

Respect to all those willing to publicly put their views out there to be agreed with, made fun of or contradicted. Opinions are like other parts of the body, we all have one. It was the snide and totally punk-ass move of someone with the ability to type into my screen that ultimately caused me to move on. At least ppl here post under their own monikers, meeting me head-on - so to speak.

honestly. I dont remember blatant disregard for the effect scammers and cheaters have on the server pop being a part of the way it was. They are using a bug in the game to rip off new players exclusively. I can't fathem why a low pop server would put up with it.

I know the "its not a game it's a world" rhetoric applies but this is a flaw in the logistics of player run vendors . It sure as hell feels like a game to me in that respect.

I find it shameful, the number of times I've seen someone say "maybe this shard isn't for you" in the past weeks. Especially when in the past months, I've seen a lot of "Where is everyone?/The shard is dead" threads.

PK/PvP isn't for everyone. I don't think someone should be made to feel unwelcome here if those aren't their interests. There is PLENTY to do on UOSA besides that.

The fact remains that PKing and thievery *IS* part of the Fellucia setting, and I don't think that should ever change. Those that run scam vendors are the scum of the shard, and have no honor; But I don't think it should be outlawed either. It's a lawless virtual-land, with people of all types. Risk makes this game exciting.

Our shard admins have put mechanisms in place for safer trading - via the forums and the main channel on IRC. And there are vendor houses, where the owners simply will not tolerate scamming. I'd love to see more of them advertise their locations, so people know where the safer places to buy in-game are.

As has been said in previous posts, scam vendors are easily combated. All it would take is a few people getting together and creating an alt named "Scam Vendor" and parking the ghost at these places while they're at work and no using that account.

If people don't want people to get scammed like this, fight back. Its within your means.

It's lame, but its part of the danger of this era that we're trying to achieve.

With so many legitimate big vendor houses, it's so easy to avoid this. And as far as new players go, it's a lesson that has to be learned i suppose. But it should be motivation for people to be nice to noobs and help them when you encounter them/they ask questions in irc.

when I idle in irc, there's like me and 2 other people that I see answering noob's questions and steering them towards the legit vendors.

rage threads like this are what feed the scam vendor owners.

creating new threads doesn't accomplish much. best you can do is post in the stickied scam vendor thread in the trading post and hope some new players see it.

Honestly, if someone quits over a blank spellbook, how long were they gonna play here? I killed a guy last nite who easily had 10k of loot on him and 20 mins later he was farming the same spot. He was obviously new, but it didnt phase him. Those are the kinds of people who will last here
