Price Check

Post by Supply Captain »

Hello fellow Sosarians,
I was needing a price check on certain items and the average rate of cost. I know items vary a great deal depending on the combination of abilities but I was wanting to know the avg rate someone would pay if a particular item had that ability.

I am trying to combine a formula to help me calculate the cost of certain items despite the actual weapon or armor type.

Cost per magic charge (weapons/armor/clothes/jewelry)
Burning
Daemon's Breath
Dragon's Breath
Evil
Feeblemind
Ghoul's Touch
Mage's Bane
Spell Reflection
Thunder
Weakness
Wounding

Base Price Weapons
Vanquishing
Power
Force
Might

Base Price Armor
Invulnerability
Fortification
Hardening
Guarding

Misc. Supplies (per item)
bandages

boards

arrows

ignot

shadow ignot

dull copper ignot

copper ignot

bronze ignot

gold ignot

agapite ignot

verite ignot

valorite ignot
(if I left out any ignot variants please list with the price)

Deadly Poison Keg

Greater Cure Keg

Greater Heal Keg

Greater Refresh Keg

Full Spellbook

Gate Scroll

Recall Scroll

Mark Scroll

Prized Fish

Wondrous Fish

Truly Rare Fish

Highly Peculiar Fish

If you would reply with a post layed out similar to mine (with prices next to each item) it would help alot. I look forward to further serving the community and building a reputation as a valuable trader and merchant.

Thanks in advance,

Cost per magic charge (weapons/armor/clothes/jewelry)
Burning Not much, 10gp a charge maybe (magic arrow right)
Daemon's Breath , 50gp per charge (if this is fireball)
Dragon's Breath 50gp (fireball)
Evil (essentially undesirable, only serves to indicate the unused status of the weapon)
Feeblemind see above
Ghoul's Touch Very nice, 200gp or more per charge, and 500gp a charge for desirable weapon types
Mage's Bane this never works, essentially trash.
Spell Reflection 350-550 gp a charge, depending on charges per item and item type
Thunder, 50-70gp per charge, can be 150+ if it's a desirable weapon type
Weakness like feeblemind
Wounding 20gp or so, useful for thwarting MR.

You forgot:
Invisibility 350-500 per charge depending on item type and quantity of charges
Teleport 500 to 1000 per charge depending on charges on ring.

Base Price Weapons
Vanquishing GM + 10000 and GM + 20-50k depending on tactics mod for desirable weapon types
Power GM + 2000 and GM + 7-15k depending on tactics mod for desirable...
Force GM + 1000 and GM + 4-6k depending on tactics mod for desirable...
Might GM + 500

You forgot tactics modifiers
I would calculate these last once you know the item subtotal, just add on X percent to the item cost, where X is the amount of tactics gained by equipping the weapon.
+5
+10
+15
+20
+25

Base Price Armor
Invulnerability +2000 per piece if it's plate, or dex suit, +700 for stud leather, + 400 all else
Fortification Invuln cost - 40%
Hardening Fort cost - 50%
Guarding smelt it

Misc. Supplies (per item)
bandages 1.5gp ea

boards npc cost (when guilded) + 1

arrows see boards

ignot iron = 7gp ea,

shadow ignot colors = iron + 5n where n is a series integer representing a color, from 1.

dull copper ignot colors = iron + 5n where n is a series integer representing a color, from 1.

copper ignot colors = iron + 5n where n is a series integer representing a color, from 1.

bronze ignot colors = iron + 5n where n is a series integer representing a color, from 1.

gold ignot colors = iron + 5n where n is a series integer representing a color, from 1.

agapite ignot colors = iron + 5n where n is a series integer representing a color, from 1.

verite ignot colors = iron + 5n where n is a series integer representing a color, from 1.

valorite ignot colors = iron + 5n where n is a series integer representing a color, from 1.
(if I left out any ignot variants please list with the price)

Deadly Poison Keg materials cost + 50%

Greater Cure Keg materials cost + 30%

Greater Heal Keg materials cost + 30%

Greater Refresh Keg materials cost + 20%

Full Spellbook 6000 flat sells well

Gate Scroll 150 ea

Recall Scroll 45 ea

Mark Scroll 80 ea

Prized Fish Nobody uses these, you might sell them to a decorator for a k

Wondrous Fish Nobody uses these, you might sell them to a decorator for a k

Truly Rare Fish Nobody uses these, you might sell them to a decorator for a k

Highly Peculiar Fish Nobody uses these, you might sell them to a decorator for a k
That sounds about right to me, but I might have made some mistakes in my estimations, and I am sure someone will chime in whining about how I price items.

Matron's assesment is pretty much spot on. However, I'd say you could sell bandages for 2gps all day long if you are at a convinient location (not necessarilly Yew bank/gate). Also, I've never been guilded to buy boards or arrows, but you can sell them for 4 and 5gps respectibly. As far as ingots go viewtopic.php?f=75&t=28254 these are the prices I've paid for them, but you don't see too many on the market for some reason.

Also, for very high end weps (like +25 power / +15 or higher vanq hallys, katanas, warforks, krysses, q-stalves and such) you can probably get more money for them if you auction them off in the trade forum.

Invis items are 100-200 a charge, not 350-500

I think Matron's 1.5 reflects bulk deals on the forums and such. At a vendor for sure, 2 is more like it.

Most of these pricing schemes fall apart for super high-level premium weapons; for those, you really do need to just run them in an auction on the forum and count on market forces to give you a fair price for them.

Personally, I think arrows should be a little more than 5gp each, as well. Making them for 5gp each is slave labor (finding feathers, etc.), and buying them up from stores at 3gp and forcing quantity increases at the store is also tedious. If you sell arrows reliably (i.e. always have some in stock), I'd suggest charging 6-7gp.

I guess that depends on who you are selling them to. I believe them to be one of (of not) the most powerful items in-game, and as such, I would gladly pay up to 500gp each for the right item type and amount of charges.

I totally agree they are very powerful, but they are much more common compared to reflect/teleport. I have a steady supply on my vendor 1 screen east of Kryps patio at 100 gp if you ever need them.

Rag sells them on his vendor for 100gp/charge, yet you offer them in bulk for 300gp/per? How is that a low low price? I must be confused.

Because there is no market or economy here, thats why the confusion.

Everyone has 15 characters, which means, short of being lazy everyone has every craft type, thus no need to ever actually buy anything.

In addition, as noted by someone else, vendors here are not run for profit. The only reason people run vendors is so they can run a vendor. Thus, you'll get the walmart effect where people will happily sell at a loss (or rock bottom prices) for no other reason than to feel like their shop got sales.

Add to that, the fact that you get these forum shoppers who have no interest in buying an item but will happily state what they'll "pay" for the said items. Which boggles the mind a little...given if they won't actually pay for it how can they state what they would pay?

I appreciate all of your opinions and please those who have not posted yet, feel free to express your opinion on what you would pay.

All of this is very useful in helping me determine a "mean" price for my wares.

Thank you,
