How do fighter/paladin NPCs work on this shard?

Hi all.

I was reading some old threads on this and I was wondering a few things, related to hiring these guys and raising weapon skills on them:

1) Do paladin NPC hirelings heal themselves?

2) I read that fighter NPCs can be better than paladins because fighter NPCs level up their skills as well, helping you raise faster. Can anyone in the know confirm if this is a fact?

3) Does the thing with running off screen while in combat from a house-trapped hireling and then coming back and it not fighting back still work?

4) Can I equip either type of hireling with my own armor? I just drop it on them? If they come with a weapon, how do I force them to fight bare-handed?

No

I haven't heard this, but I'm not a UO expert. I always use pally's because they don't die as fast.

Yes.

4) Can I equip either type of hireling with my own armor? I just drop it on them? If they come with a weapon, how do I force them to fight bare-handed?

There was a patch a while back that changed that. You can't touch the armor or weps they are carrying. You just have to get them to not hit you.
