When did they change it so that boxes/chests no longer blocked monsters? I remember using a box and fire walls to farm monsters in dungeons until they fixed it. I believe that initially they made it so that monsters would "break" any boxes that totally blocked their pathfinding.

Dec 21 1998:
  • Monsters will pick up and destroy items that block them as follows:
    • The item must be moveable.
The creature cannot be a pet.
The item cannot be locked down.
      The item must be impassable.
Monsters can destroy an item anytime.
Human NPCs must be attacking someone to destroy an item.
Animals must be attacking someone to destroy an item.
The creatures will destroy stacked items one at a time.

EZ Macros for the win.

I just found an old Strategy Guide on T2A that I had bought a while back.

The guide was made by http://www.primagames.com/

I don't know if it can be useful or not.

I could scan it and convert it to PDF but it contains 304 pages.

It explains EVERYTHING on skill gain, monsters, growth strategies, complete bestiary, etc

That would be cool Kaldori if you could scan it and convert it to a pdf I'd love to see it.

Here's a link to a change made to precasting on Jan. 3, 2000. I believe that this change implies that prior to the patch, one could drink potions or use other items while holding a spell on the cursor. I remember doing this at some point in UO's history, but I don't know the date. (I'll yield to Faust or anyone else on this matter) I think right now on the server, we can't drink pots while pre-casting, but we can drag items?

http://update.uo.com/design_57.html

If we're going for historical accuracy, well, there's something. (maybe)

Does anyone know if it was possible to use a bandage while precasting? That sounds impossible, but would be extremely interesting if it was possible in 1999 - I don't remember.

The link above seems like the end of precasting. Precasting simply means casting a spell before equipping a weapon.

You certainly could not use a bandage or potion while having a target cursor for a spell up, because back then you didn't have bandage self or drink potion macros and had to dbl click them manually.

I'm no longer convinced that potions weren't usable with a spell cursor up. The argument that it wasn't possible to do this because there were no 3rd party apps isn't quite valid. UO Extreme and Plugin had this capacity and this was in early to mid '98, which is obviously before t2a was released.

I've done successful tests on the UO Demo where I can use items such as food and so forth with the cursor up. There is no reason to believe that potions react any differently. The only time it would make sense for this particular reaction is the removal of pre casting. Using a bandage would obviously remove the cursor because any new target that pops up overrides the current active cursor.

My personal opinion on the use of potions with a spell cursor is definitely not favorable. I just don't think it's accurate in reality that it nullfifies the current spell target when you use one.

I distinctly remember a guy named 'Hobbes' back on the beta server at the VERY beginning.

There were tons of bugs back then and only one shard. Game was slow and laggy as hell, but was brand new and far different than anything else that had existed before that time. I remember when my beta cd came in the mail, was in a white paper sleeve. Couldn't even play the game for 2 days because of how slow dialup was and how lagged the update server was. Servers would crash for hours on end and almost no one had any higher skills.

Hobbes knew every hack and every bug and IIRC was a thief/mage. He stole the forge in Britian once and had hundreds of kills. He was very well known. I remember when I got to join in killing him at the bottom of Despise in the Dragon room. Someone yelled 'They got Hobbes! Get him!' Someone put out an APB on ICQ since that was pretty much the only freeware chat program available about him and suddenly there were about 50 guys after him. They killed him, followed his ghost to town, and killed him again. Mind you, this was during the Lord British-slaying era. I remember seeing LB die; everyone went beserk.

They are not.
This is something that has been discussed for removal but it really not at the top of the list, and could possibly be confusing for some new players since the arrows are built into the client.

Some rumors maybe u guys can help:

The 1000 damage magic Arrow:
There has been rumors about monsters can shoot spells with a chance of 0,000001 to deal 1000 damage.
( I think gms just killed the poeple and that was a fool excuse )

The Doublehit
The Doubehit mostly happend to Katana and rarly to Hallyswings (don't know about Hallydoublehit)
It was a bug that made u hit 2times once while equip and 1 while unequip.

Noto-PK PK (bluecorpse bug)
There was a pretty long period this worked.
You go grey intown, get involved in some fighting but always survive until the criminal timer was gone. If u got killed after the crim timer was over the corpse turned blue.

The pro use of this was dying just next to a healer.

Blackhole - Timewarp
Recdu Recsu + Alt F4

I know a scam that worked on t2a still that works on runuo. Only very few poeple know about it, prolly never ever get fixed.
(won't tell in forums)
