Newbies guild...would love to have one!

Newbies unite!

I would love to start a newbies guild. Just started playing here myself a week ago, and i see new comers to the boards almost every day.

Newbies guild [NEW] could have lots of fun things to do while getting established: run by newbies...for newbies!

-- a good way to meet other players
-- hunting and training together
-- for new crafters: we could hold events for the other players and sell our crafts to them.
-- for new pvp'ers: we could have fun events with group of [NEW] -vs- one trained player
-- for new hunters: hunting together or with a GM leader to maximize our efforts.

Being in an organized group and seen in public could generate more NEW members, and maybe even donations and help from established players, as they see us having much fun together! There was a guild such as this on Seige, very much needed there and successful.


Eventually we could have a Newbies player town, after the newbies get established and makes lots of gold

Awesome idea, especially the craft fair part as I cant find any half decent vendors here.

A newbie guild is a good idea. NEW on siege was great for helping people get started and had a good reputation. They also had agreements with many pk guilds so that players with the NEW tag would not be killed as much.

Problem is it needs someone dedicated to run it and recruit people etc. If there was such a dedicated person I certainly wouldnt mind donating some resources to helping get it started. I'm sure many other rich players around the shard might be persuaded to donate stuff to get the guild going. Just needs someone with the time and motivation to run it.

Someone had a [NEW] guild on IPY and it worked out well when regulated. Our PK guild wouldn't kill anyone with a [NEW] tag unless they attacked us first. However we made sure that the leaders only accepted truly new people.

The leader has to be very careful, there are people who enjoy griefing defenseless new players by joining these guilds, acting like a newbie, and then slaughtering them.


On a side note, I wanted to make a newbie pvp guild system (2 guilds at war with a set of ethics/rules such as no res killing or drylooting, so new players can learn pvp without getting discouraged by the Veteran pvpers who can often times .. be jerks )

I would like to start this guild however I wont be online half as much as I would need to in order to be the GM.

2 people start it [Enewbs vs Wnewbs] Then set a recruitment date. Then a one month period will go by, a new GM for each guild will be voted for by everyone from both sides. Please base your votes on who contributed the most to there guilds. All we need is 2 people to start.

This is just a fun way to try it, u can choose ur own method.

Small suggestion... perhaps some newbie guidance on things like NOT KILLING BULLS for weapon gains.

I had to kill my second newbie a day or two ago after I asked nicely a few times to leave the bulls for taming gains and was replied to with some very rude remarks....

Glad to hear many are interested! i am currently working hard to obtain gold for a guild stone, and a starter house to place it. But if anyone would like to donate this to get us started it would be very good And i would pay the donation back once my gold is established.


I believe [NEW] would benefit the entire shard by providing a stage for all players to participate:


Sub-guilds for war games and pvp training is a great idea!

Player Guards for newbie resource gathering, or hunting events could give the pk's some competition!

And much more! i'd like to see a town built where new players would want to live and train in together.

Ash, I am in the same boat. Amazing what I forgot in past 5 years of not playing UO. I went on a WoW splurge and finally decided it isn't what everyone makes it out to be and now I am back. It will take me a while to learn the PvP aspect of the game again.

I agree, I did wow for a while there, then I got to busy in life to make wow work. You have to honestly put so much time to get anything done. Nothing was ever like UO though, its fun picking it up again. Heck I forgot the commands for the vendors

I seem to be in the same boat as a lot of people here, I haven't played UO since T2A on Origin and having watched some of the decent PvPers here I doubt I'll be rdy for any of that for a while. It would be nice to learn with other people in the same boat and also PvP isn't everything. So I would be happy to join something like this to have something to do, I've only been here a few weeks and when my rl mate isn't on I rarely play with anybody. I also have a small house literally a few tiles away from the Brit guard zone by the mining wall/pass that you could use for (one of) the stone(s) if you want.

I'm always on IRC if anybody wants to msg me about it, I don't have the time or inclination to become a guild leader though. Been there, done that and I have no will to repeat sorting out bitchy egos and their disputes.
