Please Explain the Use of the Trash Barrel in House Security

I hear about using the trash barrel as some means of house security. I use rows of tables to secure the access of containers and portions of my house, but might someone explain the use of the trash barrel and their effectiveness?

You step up to it use the command to place it then move forward place again and walk in and no one else can get in because it never creates any opening for anyone to come in through

The only way it works properly is with a hot key that says the command.
