Carpentry & Musicianship
I was wondering if the skill level of musicianship affected the chance for an exceptional instrument to be crafted with carpentry. I would like to drop my musicianship down to 45.0, but I don't want my crafting chances to go down. Does anybody know if the expceptional chance is just based off of carpentry?

No it doesnt, it is based on your carp.

Like Hoots said, as far as I know its only based off your Carpentry Skill, my Instrument crafter on OSI was always at 45 Music.
On a related note, I was told that GM crafted Instruments dont give any Barding chance increase here, is that true? and are there "slayer" Instruments here? I havent seen one drop yet.

You're correct, it only increases durability. Provocation at GM has a 100% success chance anyway. No, there are no slayer instruments or magical instruments of any kind.
