prepatch tourmaline?

so... what makes it prepatch? and even so why would it be more valuable to anyone but an npc jeweler?

Same price as a regular tourmaline. All of these alternate appearance jewels can be obtained by killing NPCs that have backpacks on them (such as Wandering Healers)

yes, i think they still spawn - last week i found a sapphire - looks like a big diamond

They do still spawn. Not all NPC's carry them (I have never seen a wandering healer with one), but there definitely is a wide array of NPCs that still spawn them.

I have like 10 of'em, they do spawn now and then on NPC's
