What is AFK recourse gathering?

Post by a_llama »

So I get the general idea of you cant AFK recourse gather. But what is AFK? I can have 3 accounts. So can I be hunting dragons on one account when the second account is macro mining in Del, and the third account is macro fishing in the ocean? Are the second and third account AFK bc Im not really there or is this OK bc Im sitting at the computer playing the one hunting dragons?

AFAIK that's OK as long as you are tabbing across clients often enough to respond in a reasonable time if a GM shows up for a chat.

What constitutes a 'reasonable' time I'm not sure, but I doubt it's more than a couple of minutes tops. When I'm doing similar I try to quickly tab over inbetween kills.

If you have the screen space you might be able to leave the 'afk' character's journals open on your 'main' screen to see if anyone is trying to have a chat. I do this while in IRC/Forums when fishing.

As long as you are able to respond to GM's there is no problem.

AFK resource gathering is just as the name implies, that you are away from the keyboard while your chars are gathering (non-bought) resources.

I always read it as if you are at your comp you are ok. I think most things other than maybe fishing a gm can just watch you and tell if you're afk or not

AFK is considered whenever you are not looking at your screen.

Ooh, I'd never thought of that

I'd just been leaving one fisher's journal visible, on the assumption that a GM's appearance on the boat would show in the toon's journal.

Thanks for the tip :)
