Buccs Den Truce for Murderers
Just posting to see how many people currently adhere to Reds not attacking each other at Buccs Den and how many would be up for creating a makeshift Buccs Den truce.
I played siege on OSI which was politically very different but as I understand it reds tended not to attack each other so much on production shards. If enough pks were in on this and used the bank at Buccs we could turn it into an occasional hot spot with some nice pk vs anti pvp. It would also help foster a bit of community/cooperation between murderers and give the town more of the "den of bad guys" feel its supposed to have.
In the past week there have been a fair few pks using the bank & all I met seemed amiable to this idea.
Post here if your a murderer and want to sign up for the truce. Comments and criticism are welcome but lets keep things on topic.

isn't uosa a shard where it have to look like the version it was at the time it went out? i didn't read anything saying that this shard had to look like 100% like Siege...

Re: Buccs Den Truce for Murderers
Gotta love guys who are up front about dishing it out but not being able to take it.
Can someone get this guy a moonstone please?

Actually, I should mention, I specifically remember being attacked in Buc's Den by Hernando Cortez, a red, when I was there with one of my red characters. I remember it both because it was a very enjoyable fight, and he died with a fair amount of loot on him.
So I'd be a little wary of the guy who's asking for a truce, given his past behavior.

Re: Buccs Den Truce for Murderers
As the OP stated reds didn't seem to attack each other very often in the era, at least not in my experiences. "Honor amongst reds" I'd heard it referred to as. This was probably due in part to the difficulty in playing a red in the era (lack of macroing, leaving a character idle in game, multiclienting), most people who played reds did so full time rather than switching between alts.
Nonetheless I think it's a good idea. I too would prefer to see a red vs. blues attitude, simply a mutual respect on the field. Buc's Den would be a good place to start as reskilling or ganking a guy trying to restock is esp. lame.

When I'm on my murderer, I murder people. I don't care what hue their name shows up as.

Also the reason you didnt see as many reds on live servers as you do here. The red to blue ratio on UOSA is far more superior to any shard on live servers were.fancy shirt wrote:This was probably due in part to the difficulty in playing a red in the era (lack of macroing, leaving a character idle in game, multiclienting), most people who played reds did so full time rather than switching between alts.
I dont think a truce would really work well on UOSA with such an abundance of reds, who like myself and bojangles, sole purpose is to murder no matter the color.
Re: Buccs Den Truce for Murderers
Honor among reds? I suppose that depends on what server you played on. I don't ever recall seeing honor among reds on Great Lakes. Going to Bucs Den (as a red) meant being prepared to be attacked by reds and blues.
I know I certainly didn't adhere to any code of honor. The only "fellow" reds I wouldn't attack on sight were the ones I personally knew. Other than that, it was game on.
Can't say I'd abide by any similar code of conduct here, were I to be into l33t PvPing. I can count the number of people on this shard I trust on one hand. Everybody else I treat as a hostile.

So:
Mike123:
You may have fought me in Buccs at some time but that is beside the point. I played siege on OSI where reds and blues attacked each other based on guilds & grudges. In the past I have adhered to this mentality on T2A. If you killed me and got good loot thats great, I die sometimes like everyone and will make no claim on being the most l33t pker or pvper on the shard. I do not want this shard to be like siege, I just mentioned siege because I have a poor understanding of how politics worked in real T2A and would welcome some info on how pks treated each other back in the day.
Everyone else:
I have played on the shard for 1275 days on and off and have made many good friends here, I have been a member of cr3w and also UoH. I'm sure Roadkill or Blackfoot would vouch for me as an honourable player if I needed them too. I may be pk but I am no liar or scammer and tend to be in the slightly nicer tier of pks.
The point of this thread was to see how many pks would be up for a buccs den truce. The advantages of this are as follows:
1: Safer banking for reds
2: Greater community amongst pks
3: Possibility of more pvp in buccs den as a result of informal pk unity
Basically it matter nothing to me whether you think this is a good idea or not. I simply made the post in a genuine attempt to foster some community amongst reds in Buccs. If you want to be involved or not thats fine. Simply state your opinions on the matter in this thread.
If you are up for the truce that's great!
If you want to attack me or gank me that's fine too. I have played long enough that being ganked or attacked does not concern me. I am as happy when I am brought to justice as when I am committing crimes, its just the cycle of UO.
I really just wanted to know how people in the general populace felt about the idea so feel free to state your true opinions on the matter. Thanks for all the replies so far.

Re: Buccs Den Truce for Murderers
When I am red, I don't usually attack other reds at Bucs Den or the chaos shrine.
I think the truce is a fine idea. Of course, not everyone will follow the truce, which is fine as you said. If a large percentage of people abide by the truce, than the few who don't will find it hard to fight against a group.
If, on the other hand, not enough people abide by it, the truce will fall apart.
I actually really love community neutral zones in UO. Most of my best friends I have made in UO through the years are people who I met fighting against on the field. Neutral zones are good for the community in my experience. Neutral zones are also a great place for grudge duels with spectators which is always fun

You sound truly like an enlightened UO player.
That being said, I don't think that the majority of the red population would agree to a truce.
BUT, if some do decide to declare bucc's as a safe haven, it may breed more relationships among reds; particularly solo reds with no guild.
All in all, it's an interesting concept to try to implement!

Good idea if you can get anyone to agree, always someone trying to crash the party...

I don't use the bank on my reds, there's very little point when you can just use a home.
Bucs should just be another one of the PvP hotspots IMO, it's a nice open area to fight in without a guard zone 10 steps away. There's already a real lack of areas people go to fight if you discount Brit GY

This is an idea I like. Bucs should be THE pvp spot. Brit GY is just horrible and encourages guard-hopping trash.nightshark wrote:I don't use the bank on my reds, there's very little point when you can just use a home.
