Official Thank You Derrick Thread.

Post by Chim »

:!:

Derrick has given all of us a place to escape from the monotony of our everyday lives. I could not name one person more capable of running a shard then Derrick. I've played on other "player shards" in my time and they are not pretty. One time I was playing some player shard back in 2003 and the GM decided to do some half assed capture the flag game. Well seeing my opportunity to grief, I immediately stole my teams flag and left the arena. After that the GM got on the "Page All" server thing, you know the one Yoda uses to get people to come to events, Well anyways this guy is pissed and he's all "Who ever stole the flag give it back now or I'll start banning accounts!" lol. So of course I held onto it until he started banning people and then he just deleted the shard all together (RIP EL33T UO shard 2003-2003) I did all of this within a couple of hours.

What I'm saying is that when people are given power they will nine times out of ten exploit that power. Derrick has never done this and either has any other GM. If I was playing on any other shard I would have been banned a long time ago. Not because I exploit or cheat the game. But because I steal and grief within the given rules. On this shard I truly feel free to play in any way and not just the cookie cutter hally mage leet pvp way. I take comfort in knowing that if I kill or loot the wrong person that I won't be banned because they are friends with a GM. I also like the feeling knowing that all the time I have put in to this shard i.e. that all of the meaningless skills I've acquired and meaningless pixel money and items will be there waiting for me when I log in. This server has been up consistently for four years. That's why its still called T2A and not T2A 2.0. How many player shard can make those claims?

This isn't directed at anyone in particular I just think that maybe we should all be grateful for what we've been given and not make sure big deals about minor inconveniences.

Im pretty new on UOSA, a game designer and tried / tested a lots of games professionally and for fun.

Of all games, UO 97-99 was my best memories and when i found about uosa, I tried it right away. Was like walking a time warp back to the fun Uo days.

Been playing for 3 month now, and all I have to say is Bravo! To all of the peoples that worked on this. I do not know who to thanks but this thread seems to offer a chance to do it.

Oh yeah before I forget. I wanted to tell the vet's players that keep whining about that little detail not being the way they want, that they sound like my 82 year old grand'pa. Shame.

Thanks derrick. You created a shard that serves a purpose. You let people continue UO where they left off many years ago and in most cases, you help people get the drug out of their system.

When I started here, I was amazed that I could play UO again and after a couple years of being here, I really do have UO out of my system completely. I do pop in from time to time due to habit and lack of things to read on the internet.

Thanks Derek, totally reliving my UO experiences and although I left the game after playing from release to UO: R, this server in my opinion brings out the best of UO.

I literally loled.

I would expect nothing less from a shard with such a name.

And yes thanks Derrick!

If you guys really are this grateful how about a quick VOTE to help the shard.

Dear Derrick and staff, thanks to you I have retained my sanity at work for much longer than it would have otherwise lasted and for that I am forever grateful. Keep up the good work!

UOSA has been just as blessed to have such a diverse and dedicated community; so thanks all you guys too. And thanks as well our honorable and trustworthy staff who are just as dedicated to leaving you all alone as I am.

Best Regards!

This man Derrick is a fraud. Here is some bed time reading.

Derrick Facts

Fact #1 - Derrick's real name is Ian Wilson. Yes.

Fact #2 - Derrick is a member of cA and WL. WTF.

Fact #3 - Derrick cries every single time entitled nerds cry out on the forums from their mother's basements about how a free shard ran professionally just isn't catering their whims.

Fact #4 - Derrick AFK mines when he isn't running the shard. Also, he uses EUO.

Fact #5 - Derrick only runs the shard so that he can play as an Elvish Ninja Necromancer in Trammel. He has Trammel all to himself and that is the way he likes it.

And he's having much more fun in Trammel than anybody did on a production server in the last 10 years! (of course, we're all having more fun playing UO than anybody in the last 10 years thanks to him)

As for Fact#4,

that explains this picture

Regardless, those facts only support one possible conclusion: he's even more of a genius than I had anticipated.

Thanks for all the hard work!

And seriously Chum, does your signature grow daily? How long before 1/2 of every thread is your signature?
