Too nice, NEA
Too nice, NEA
A red almost killed me on my dexxer while I was farming in Shame the other day - ran up and dropped an ebolt on me. I fumbled my disarm/recall and said goodbye to the PK.
At which point he asked me if I had any money. I have 1.5k, I say. Want it as tribute?
Apparently not; he ghealed me twice, definitely saving my life from scorpion poison, then recalled out.
WTF, this kind of thing never happened to me on OSI servers, NEA.
//seriously the community here is pretty cool.

Well, most of the reds here are fairly decent ppl. Yes they have fun killing others, but there is nothing wrong with that. Almost all the reds will either leave u recall regs or give u a rez/gate

Trammel PK. Was he in mYm?
Re: Too nice, NEA
I don't think he was in a guild. What's a trammel PK on a shard without trammel?
Re: Too nice, NEA
Someone who's not dick enough to take all your shit and leave you stranded, apparently.
I've played UO off and on since it's launch and I just PKed for the first time recently.
I didn't loot anything the first few times. Then this one time a guy attacked me when all I had was my spear (no bandages or anything) so I did loot him for some basic supplies after being surprised that he died when I had no armor or anything.
You will get jacked and dry-looted, have no doubt about it, eventually, if you haven't already. There is a nice variety to the playerbase here.

I've been hunted, slaughtered, dismembered and abandoned plenty of times (that's cool too). But the variety is a nice new twist for me.
Re: Too nice, NEA
I get pked a bunch. As I used to do it back in the day without mercy, I reckon it's just karma. But yea most pks are cool they just prefer hunting people over monsters

Re: Too nice, NEA
I'm definitely nicer here than I was on OSI.
I once looted a guys house here, grabbed his boat keys, but when I recalled onto his boat I found him standing there. He had seen his house looted, and I felt guilty so I gated all his stuff back. Except for 60k fish steaks that I kept for myself.
I'm really the worst thief ever. Whenever I steal a boat or loot a house, I immediately feel guilty and try to find the person to give them their stuff back. One time I got lucky, I just tried recalling around and found the guy I stole a boat from at the moonglow blank.
It's why I only try to steal from evildoers. ... This also is probably why I eventually shifted my focus to IDOCs, because they're almost a victimless crime. Although, I did feel really bad after Tron's house collapsed. I could imagine how hard he worked for those trophies, and he never even got to spend them. I didn't even get any loot because the entire shard was there, but I still felt guilty.
I think it's because we've all grown up since 1999. I used to like to l33tpvp and pwn noobs, but now in my more mature state, I'm kind of ... nice. I'm overly empathetic to people on the internet and it bugs me.

I'm not really NICER, since I was a pansy push over back when I was a teenager, but I'm definitely more level headed than I used to be. I don't begrudge PKs for trying to kill me, as long as they don't bitch and make excuses for losing if I kill them. I'm here to have fun, making money in UO is simplistic and fast. If I get killed and dry looted, I lose maybe an hour of time tops. That's pretty much nothing.

As for me, I still prefer to dry loot. The weaker the prey the better. If I think there might have been a chance at a tear, I know I've done my job.

Sounds like a really great person!

Also, one of my first days here, I snagged a few thousand gold off a grey after someone in town knocked him down. Without thinking, I let him know that I had his gold and I'd meet him at the healers. It felt very unnatural.
I think they're my normal social reflexes kicking in, like how if someone dropped their wallet in front of you, you'd pick it up and hand it to them without thinking about whether you could keep it. I don't think I had any normal social reflexes back in the day...
