Easiest character to play?

Post by Sulta »

Hello! I'm writing to ask opinions about what you think the easiest character skills are to play. Don't laugh at me yet, I'm asking because with the ability to have three accounts and the fact that we have three computers my six year old son wants to play UO with my husband and I when we play.

I've already made a character for my son (Young Squire) with combat skills and healing but I was wondering if anything else would help make this character easier to play. Other than killing bears and hinds in moonglow he will always be running with my husband and I (and we will be doing things that he can be a part of) but anything or any ideas for things that would make it easier for him or more fun would be greatly appreciated.

I was thinking that musicianship with peacekeeping and provoking may be the way to go and I've had his character working on those but I just want to get ideas and see if any other skills may be more worthwhile.

Thanks for any input!

A bard is probably the easiest, as you only have to make sure to keep some distance between you and the monsters. Maybe throw some archery in there, too. This way he doesn't have to worry about bandages/chasing/casting spells all that much.

Poisoning the youth with UO, I love it.

I wouldn't entrust the usage of a bard in a 6 year old's hands.

I would give him something more simple, such as a dexxer.

Could be a dexxer bard.

Almost may want to tweak up his profanity settings in the options, I have a little brother that is 9 that plays here occassionally, its a very complicated game for a kid.

Yea I'd have to agree with a dexer. It's just double clicking monsters, double click bandages, and healing yourself. He's bound to get PK'd though, that might be a problem.

Are you sure UO is the right game for your son though? I don't mean to push away new players because I want the server to grow, but he might see some cussing here or there. He might deal with a lot of older players who enjoy "expressing their opinions" upon him. If you guys do play though, good luck !

I know I've been thinking about those things too and since he is such a good reader I immediately set his profanity filters as soon as I read the first post. I had completely forgotten about that...especially since I see so few people actually "talk" in game. (something I kinda miss actually)

My thoughts are that he won't be playing when my husband and I are not (which is why he wants to play so bad; we stopped playing Guildwars as soon as I found this server and as much as he can play that game solo, he would rather play in the same game.)

I think we have to try it out and if when he is on we try to keep to fun but less important areas hopefully others opinions won't come into play. Of course if they do, my husband and I will be sitting on either side of him so...he'll be ok.

A town-bound crafter. He will learn patience, math, and basic science!

Whatever his character is, 100 Hiding is definitely going to help him out
