New Guy looking for info
Im new to this Shard i played Divinity for a while and before i even start on this shard i want to know what the community is like cause if its a asshat/slaughter/Grief feast like divinity im not going to play cause for one the skill gain is not fast so ima have to put a metric ton of time into characters and im not saying its like divintiy but if it is just let me know and ill go play WOW with the nice lil 5 year olds and continue on the epic loot grind tell darkfall launches,

I'll be blunt,
Griefing/PlayerKilling here is high, but that is what this age is about, it gives you something to actually achieve...to fight/stop those bastards...
Without it, there isn't much else to UO and you might as well go to WoW :/

Browse around the general forum or use the search optionfor "Thank you" or "Community" in the topic thread and you will find nothing but success stories.
This question has been asked too many times now.
Yes there are some pk's here, not as many as divinity (Only about 5 active ones), and are easily avoidable if you stay away from brit graveyard, destard, shame and covetous level 1.
If the PK's die and have 20 shorts they recieve 20% statloss and they recently made combat skills extra hard to GM on players, so remaking reds will be much more difficult... which in turn, makes less reds. The only time I was ever pked on this shard was when I was running around them with nothing on me while they camped a house.
PS: Contrary to what Hemp says, no, pking/griefing is not high, its just that everyone hates him and constantly griefs/pks him because he is a 17 y/o douche.

I gave him a straight forward answer. Truth is, there is a lot of pking and griefing hereSlimeball Jasper wrote:PS: Contrary to what Hemp says, no, pking/griefing is not high, its just that everyone hates him and constantly griefs/pks him.

I'm new and I've seen perhaps 1000% (yes, 10 times) less reds/PK'ing here than on Divinity. It's completely different and the community seems a tad more mature and willing to help.
Not saying one is better than the other, but if your looking to avoid being killed, this isn't Trammel. If your capable of casting a recall quickly once every couple hours... you should be fine. It's not bad at all.

This is the single biggest misconception about UO at any time.
UO has never been about griefing, the players who greif have been about griefing..
They would do the best they could to greif any way possible in WOW, EQ, LOTR or any other MMORPG. If i can stereotype for a minute they are typically people who have sh1tty lives and fight back in the one aspect of their life they can control.... a freaking video game...
The genius behind UO is it lets Reds be Reds, Blues be Blue, Theifs be theifs, nobels be nobels and yes griefers be griefers.
Griefing is one of many styles of play possible here.
I think i could count the true 100% greifing actions i have seen in my 100+ days here on one hand.
I also used my past UO expereince to not put myself in situation or areas that are greifer targets.
So, yes greifing is here. It isnt out of control and for the most part on a small scale there is player justice and if nothing else reputations being built as to who the griefers are.
Dont let this small issus stop you from playing here!
Welcome.

Due to the lack of donat2win (buying your 7x characters) and fast skill gain (24hr/7x), you will find less of the "after school-special" kids here. Most of the reds here are mature, it's those O/C guys who like to grief it seems.

Maybe I was misunderstood, you said blues can be blues, blues would pretty much be forced to be blues without the reds and griefing.Hoots wrote:Hemperor wrote:

Re: New Guy looking for info
The ratio between true blues and reds seem unbalanced (only met one true blue so far), but I like how this server is very laid back on the death penalties. I mean you can also have multiple accounts and personalities which is cool.
I played about 3-4 days ago, and honestly I've never got this much fun from UO. I've played a lot of shards where they screwed around with the murder system, added unique weapons or artifacts and other shit like that... Most shards turn it to Diablo 2, and I hate that kind of shit. I think I see the principle behind keeping things the way it was... Everything in the game fits now, there's no loose ends.
Theres blues, reds, thieves, nobles and griefers. Not too much of each one to hinder your progress, what else can you ask for?
Enemies under moderation will help you get skill, never forget that. Suck up the death and keep fighting. Sometimes the times when I'd be laughing the most is when a big group of people I'm in gets ganked by a bigger group. I mean seriously that's what you can't get in PvM, and by being a blue. If you hate being griefed or pked, try doing it yourself. I bet you will like it.
*** One thing I don't like, however is how when you play multiple roles, you make friends on each side. Try as I might, I can't be the fullest degree of prick to those I know. Taking the 3 account 15 character limit and reducing it will perhaps make true blues and true reds, but for this server of 400 i think its better kept how it is now.
