New - where to start?

Post by negativefx83 »

Totally new here, been ages since I've played UO. Where's a good place to start that's populated?

Welcome to UOSA!!

You can start here for some tips: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=36806

Also, I'd go with Vesper or Trinsic.

I don't know how good it is, but here's how I started.

Any town and gm your hiding. (I did anatomy also, as I'm a warrior)

Then I made my way to Delucia via the Trinsic caves and got my weapon & tactics up to 50ish on bulls and the like, making my way up to Orcs.

Then I went back to the old lands and spent most of the rest of my time around the Skara/Brit/Yew Xroads killing monsters there.

I really think the woods on the mainland near Skara have a nice mix of low to medium level monsters for newbies to fight. Also a decent amount of sheep to shear for bandages.

Like I said, I don't know if that's a smart or efficient way of doing it, but it's gotten me to gm swords, tacs, anat & hiding without getting pk'd, although I have been attacked twice.

Not likely, but it was most certainly the most fun!

Building by macro is hella boring and when you're done, there's no sense of 'Yes, I'm finally there'. Or at least not an equal sense to fielding it all. :)

Moonglow! Harvest cotton and sell the cloth in town and macro your provocation at the zoo in your off time. The $$$ Rune Library at the South corner of the island has good vendors too.

If you need a house to safely macro in I will gladly let you use one of my empty ones.

Also, I have a pretty good way of raising stats while making gold and actually playing the game. Send me a PM if you need the houses and/or want info on starting up.

Cheers

Awesome, thanks for the welcome. I am also lost when it comes to creating my character so I will be spending some time figuring out what to make first.

Thanks again :)

I agree. Not to point out the deficiencies in other servers, but there's a server that makes it harder to gain the closer you get to the 700 skill cap, so actually going out and adventuring when you start out hamstrings your entire character development. That was so frustrating for someone that just wanted to have fun wandering the woods and killing things.
