Has anyone had any success with an assassin type of template when used in a PvP setting?
Templates that include hiding/stealth and use a melee weapon skill.
I was thinking something along the lines of
Hiding
Stealth
Fencing
Tactics
Healing
Anatomy
And for my final skill either poisoning or parry.
Anyone have some input on an idea like this? I know I can't use stealth with a mount so I am assuming that puts me at a huge disadvantage. If I work with a team however, I was thinking it could be good for traps ect.

Oh, I would always be using a poisoned weapon as well.
Re: Assassin
i have char
stealth
hide
heal
anat
tac
swords
archery
i also have
stealth
hide
wrestle
resist
magery
med
eval
very fun to play. obviously gimp'd for pure pvp purposes.
but the assassin is more about surprize...
the good thing about magery is.
1 teleport, making it possible to teleport around a corner and hide
2 invisibility spell you can stealth right after casting invis.
i am concidering droping resist and even possible wrestle for swords and tacs
just to make it have a very strong offence. but i probable wont
anyway the dexxer stealth is very fun too. creates a nice surprize for players, and throw in a couple exp pots also and your pretty dam deadly.
nothing like the element of surprize to a half wounded player.
do expect to die lots with this temp though... but it is fun.

Re: Assassin
would getting 90 stealth by its own work since you could just use the hiding spell?
or does the game only allow you to use stealth when you have 80 hiding?

Re: Assassin
stealth gimps u in pvp since no horse.
chasing everyone on horses here sucks as a pure melee.
i've had some success with 7xgm tank mage and my melee char duo pvping using poison since people run the second they see a red and recall.
Its almost like you have to ping pong blue/red to get good meaningful kills since everyone instant recalls =\

Re: Assassin
for every 10pts of stealth skill you get to take 1 step. thus 90stealth=9steps
(you do need hiding to gain stealth)
but you dont need it to use it, so i do suppose you could, work hiding up, then gain stealth then drop hiding again.
but why... you could only stealth as long as your invis spell lasts...thus i doubt you could use stealth to sneak up on players, but rather as a get away...
stealth characters are not stricky pvp, but they are fun. and get them in a group and they are very effective... plus no reason why they couldnt be while using the element of surprize.

Re: Assassin
the points spent in hiding seem pretty useless to me right now because you have to wait a certain time before being able to stealth. leaving you open to attack like that, the ability seems to be for defense purposes only. I'm thinking with invis even though you announce to everyone and have a shorter duration of hide, you can still move right after you do it so really you just have to move fast, which is what i prefer anyway.
Sneaking up on em would be easier to do in group pvp though still you'd have to look for the dumbest/most attention derived player on the opposing team. Horses are always gonna be a pain in the ass... Kinda regretting making my thief, good thing I have a tank mage alt.

Re: Assassin
doing what you suggest.
you will never get to pick your moments to strike. players will know some1 is sneaking around.
invisibilty spell has a timer on it so it runs out...
honestly this is not a pvp alt.
its about oppertunity killing. staying hidden and then striking them down when they cant afford it.
