Spells not doing dmg in town... wtf!

Hi every1, my first post here, so i am kinda clueless on why stuff goes this way.

Well, from my point of view you guys try to keep this server as much T2a era accurate as possible.

Ive played UO since the beta, and played it till Trammel came up (after that, no point on staying there...).

Anyways, this server seens aweasome. Altho 1 thing bothered me yesterday, i attacked a grey dexxer in town, and i realized my spells dont do any dmg to then inside town... and i was like "wtf?!". I dont recall this been that way in T2a, i used to PvP a lot in chaos/order inside town and etc...

So, i wonder, why is this that way? It seens kinda boring to have a mage and not to be able to play grey around the town, and kill ppl inside it...

I realize there are some benefits on not having dmg from spells inside town, altho i belive it kinda takes the fun out of the magery game inside town.

Either way, my 2gp.

Nope, it was around with t2a. Thus, why the name "dex monkey" was born.

but i also remember spells doing normal damage in town. so which one is it?

At one point, about half way into T2A spells became 1dmg in town. The current mechanic is era accurate for our time frame.

but we have rune books. i clearly remember spells doing normal damage in town with rune books around. im assuming were picking and choosing which parts we want to have era accurate. i dont mind the no damage in town but im not that good at a dexxer anyways so youll probably never see me fighting in town.

This is a topic that has been discussed in the past, and you can find a few threads on it. Suffice to say, spells should do no damage in town during the T2A era. To document this information, here are a couple of newsgroup posts that clearly state that spells do no damage in town:

Spells not doing dmg is kinda lame imo, but... oh well...

stay outside to cast then run guard zone and cast into target for damage one spell at a time....during t2a, same as casting firefield in town, cast outside first then run in......no one get pk'd by firefield/poisonfield in town back in the day? it flags you as gray and you can get a count but guards never came (via npc seeing attack and guard calling) as it was passive damage.

HAHAHHA I remember that shit! I used to drop explode bombs on my noto all the time on LS.
