PK proof your Taming/Farming Experience
Re: PK proof your Taming/Farming Experience
I love the reds in this thread complaining that people are using ghosts to avoid being PK'd.
So you lamers use ghosts to know when I'm farming, but it's not okay to use a ghost to see you coming to PK me.
No hypocrisy there.

Re: PK proof your Taming/Farming Experience
Nice idea, but the Reds will just Ghost the Ghost. The reds will adjust, they are more adaptable. Plus , you cant have blue Ghosts covering every potential vector to your farm spot.
The best thing Blues can do is band together. Bait the reds, leave a bard out in an obvious farm location and have several Blue stealth archers secretly cover the bard. When the reds arrive for the gank, DIRT NAP. Usually when one red body hits the floor the rest are out of there. This is more painful then anything to a red. Sure they got 15 characters from 3 accounts and will be right back out there, but trust me, they hate having to rebuild a stat red.
Be smarter. Fight smarter. Use the natural aggressiveness of the reds against them. Problem is Blues are more selfish then the reds and have not learned to work together. In a mmorpg game those that work well together dominate. Always will. (WL comes to mind) Reds generally have figured this out. Many Blues are to selfish to play well with others and whine incessantly when they can't solo the whole mmorpg. Guess what, you are not suppose to be able to solo a mmorpg!
That is my rant. I am right about this and lots else, just ask me.

I disaggree, Works fine for me and my friends I guess you would have to try it before you knock it. It can be used for tons of stuff not just locating pks.Galendae wrote:Nice idea, but the Reds will just Ghost the Ghost. The reds will adjust, they are more adaptable. This works well in the balron room at tk. Gives you a couple extra seconds to aniticipate them. Combined with an absolute target macro for the end of the hallway, it's a lot easier to get out. Throw in a wall of stone rel loc target for extra safety.
Ghost announces pks. You precast tele and wait for them to come down the hallway. Once they do, you tele past them, drop wall of stone, and recall out.

What a stupid comment.Vhyx wrote:How many different crutches do people need to play this game?
How is that a crutch? 5 reds with FS precasted vs my bard = no chance for my bard. Every second counts....
That said I have no problem with reds running around doing this as I do the very same thing on my red.
Re: PK proof your Taming/Farming Experience
Wow, this is really clever, I must have missed this thread the first time it was up in this forum.
Re: PK proof your Taming/Farming Experience
Next time I'll avoiding using the word "crutch" to describe a support device used by people to make something easier. Guess it's an offensive word.
Instead I'll say: "Gee whiz, people sure do use all kinds of interesting pro tricks to avoid PKs! UO players sure are an intelligent group of individuals that come up with all kinds of elaborate solutions to simple problems. It's no wonder they're leaps and bounds above World of Warcraft fans"

Funny how you never bring this up when talking about reds pking farmers.
"Well if me and my 5 buddies can ghost destard all day and then gate in with FS precast that's just part of the game mechanics. But if you and your blue farmers wanna ghost in an attempt to get more warning that 5 lame pker's are ganking blues, then you're using a 'crutch'."
You are seriously lame. Now I know why you play the way you do lol. Your ingame actions and your forum personality match identically.
Re: PK proof your Taming/Farming Experience
Lame bard tactics v. Lame PK tactics sounds right to me. Of course gankers are going to holler - but not because this isn't right, just because it doesn't suit them.
I doubt it will happen but if PvMers used these tips as much as PKs precast-gank the cries would be legendary, which would be just about hysterical. Still.. I think I'm going to use the mess out of Hicha's idea and wait for others to do the same. The OP's idea is great too but I'm rarely in such a confined space that it would be useful to me.

Re: PK proof your Taming/Farming Experience
I'm setting up another computer and 2 extra monitors just so I can have 2 ghosts on both sides of me anytime I'm farming with my bard or tamer. This is gonna be great.
"Like wtf? You mean we can't easily insta gank people via ghosting and precasting when they have nearly zero chance to escape? Bullshit!"

I find it Funny as hell that you would defend yourself on such a stupid statement... So your saying pks Who travel in groups, who use the best gear Vanqs- Power, Charged weapons, that are probably dped and magic jewelery, Who probably are using vent & or Skype to communicate their attack and precast FS before they go in a gate all while using ghosts to camp farming spots is fair and not a crutch but a Bard/Tamer who is solo, who probably just has regs and no fighting skills and a majority of them are new players starting off to make some gold to build there character are using a crutch because they want a few secs heads up to recall before they get overkilled by pks doing the same thing?.. Please tell me your joking.

Re: PK proof your Taming/Farming Experience
Go back and read what I wrote on page two of this thread, please. Nowhere in this thread did I say I condone the use of ghosts only for PKs and not for anti-pks.... I also mentioned that your idea was actually pretty clever, but kind of like EVeee pointed out a few posts ago, see it as having some limitations where it's best used in confined areas with few places of ingress and egress.
I think using a ghost as a PK scout is actually pretty lame. I like to hunt around and use tracking to find people. Makes it more fun and more of a game. I don't need to win every time, either. I also usually PK with a dexxer so not like escaping is particularly difficult.
On the other side of the fence.. When I'm farming I prefer to stay alive by paying attention, not going to the farming hot spots during prime-pk-gank-squad time, using MyUOSA to see if the half-way decent gank squad are on, I don't hang out in the same spot for extended periods of time and generally try to rely on my reflexes to stay alive. If I know I'm going to a farming spot that's known for having ghost-cams-- I really stay on my toes.
I don't get so hung up on pixels that I take some huge personal offense if a group of players hits me with a sync'd Flame Strike. Which, mind you, hasn't happened to me since I got turned into a pile of dust by cr3w a couple of months ago.
As far as playing in groups, using Skype or Ventrilo, carrying magic weapons and being stocked to the nines with gear-- That's not something exclusive to PKs. One of the best counters to gank squads is to also play with a group of friends. That way it goes from being a gank to PvP and maybe putting some stat-loss reds into the ground for a few days.
Anyway, this is just my personal opinion on the matter. Don't expect everyone to agree with me.

Now I understand what just happened to me: I was like "why am I frozen and exploding to death without seeing any casting?" Ghost cam precast, I say!!!

Re: PK proof your Taming/Farming Experience
I haven't seen anyone who regularly plays a red speaking out in favour of ghosting and rolling in a pack of 5 with FS precasted. Just a lot of people who play bards making assumptions.
I use tracking, and I know for a fact that Vhyx does too. I haven't seen him once condone ghosting on either side, and yet several of you are replying with "lol I can't believe you're saying it's ok for reds to ghost". Learn reading comprehension, deal with the fact that some reds are better than your 'foolproof' escape methods, and stop putting words in people's mouths.
As for my input, ghosting is weak shit on either side.
