What skills should a Treasure Hunter have?

Post by RedXIII »

Hi,

Well, i was reading some stuff, and heard that Detecthidden helps lockpick/detect traps? does it work here? Im kinda clueless about T-hunters...

I know its like:

Cartography, Lockpicking, Mining, besides that, i dunno wich i HAVE to get.
I know Magery is handy, and etc...

Thanks,

My t-hunter is a solo guy, the template i would use for a pure t-hunter would be different. here's my template..

Carto
Lockpicking
Magery
Med
Eval int
Music
Provoc

Use telek on the chest once picked, provoke the spawn, ebolt/fs the survivors etc

Your struggle to do anything but lv1-2 if you take mining/carto/detect/remove trap/lockpicking you'll have only 2 slots for skill to fight with. that's purely for group t-hunting

I have peacemaking instead of eval. If I'm doing a lvl 4 by myself and it starts to get out of hand, I can hit peacemaking to get the mob off me.

I found eval to be useless if you bard correctly, and if you need to get the mob off you just equip an invis item, you get plenty of them from LPing, no need to use an entire skill slot

I agree that Eval Int is useless, personally my t-hunter is

Magery
Med
Carto
Lock
Provo
Music
Resist

I certainly like the idea of peacemaking > resist though.... I think resist probably saved my life quite a few times barding the balrons. But for just t-maps peacemaking seems wayyy more useful.

Lockpicking
Cartography
Musicianship
Provocation
Magery
Meditation
Wrestling

I had wrestling at 40 so that I could have 60 detect hidden until I GM'd lockpicking, that way I could do lvl 5 chests.

With this build you are easily able to solo lvl 5 maps, just remember to have reflect up at all times and to have a few invis charges if the situation gets out of hand. Only died a few times during treasure maps, and those were only because I wasn't paying attention while looting and monsters started spawning.

EDIT: Just remembered the most times I died on my thunter was pulling up a lvl 5 on map location #5. If you ever get a lvl 5 map for location #5 I can safely tell you that no combination of skills/stats will save you.

Ok, so detect hidden helps with lockpicking if u are not gm?
my lockpick is stuck at 93.9 (gm carp/gm tinker). i guess now its the dungeon time...

if i get to 100 detect hidden, would i be able to LP lvl 5 tmaps?

Your lockpicking should be at 95.1 before you start doing dungeon chests, every gain is vital!

You only need 60 DH at 95.1 lockpicking to do lvl 5 chests, that way you can leave 40 points in something else useful.
