Interesting places?

Post by HardActToFollow »

I used to play UO way back in 99 but I have forgotten all the cool unique places to hunt various monsters. I'll list the ones I have found below, if anyone else could provide their cool spots for PvM.

a) Rat Valley, S of Yew - I could have sworn that orcs/ettins spawned here instead but rats are cool too.

b) Lich Crypt , SE of Yew - there is this small crypt area that spawns 5 liches in the forest.

c) Orc Camp ; E of Cove - Lots of orcs and ettins!

i don't know about here, but on osi west of dungeon shame had all sorts of level 3 magic mobs (airs, gargoyles, waters, orc mages) in the forest above the mountain chain

north of minoc on the west side of the mountain used to be reaper valley on osi, but i don't see any here

also outside of terathan keep is a fun place to farm on any non-bard template because the ophidians and terathans automatically fight each other

Your memory is a little foggy so let me make a few corrections (cause you're pretty much right)...

a) Rat Valley.. it spawned rats, hence the name Rat valley. Ettins and Orcs use to spawn at the very northern end, it was almost like a "war zone" between the Ratmen and the Orcs

b) Lich Crypt, aka "Yew Liches" or "Lich Ruins" in many runebooks, still exists, spawns 4 liches. There is also a "Yew Crypt" which is a big underground crypt which has some undead spawn, a few chests, and in post-Factions UO, Shadowlord's HQ.

c) Orc Camp - you're dead on accurate, lots of orcs and ettins.

Well the orc camp from what I remember on the OSI server had savage tribes inside the fort, but i like orcs way better.

Also can someone tell me if this server has the "Orc Cave". Not sure what its called but I remember there was a big bad orc "brute perhaps?" and other orcs like a bomber and a orc scout that would use stealth. I might be in the wrong era, but I know these did exist, but they could be post trammel.

On a side note, would Derrick object to adding the orc scout back into the game? or at least on "special events" where orcs attack a city or something.

Savages were UO:R/post UO:R so they won't be here. Same with the Orc Cave and Orc Scouts. We do have "special events" from time to time though

If you like orcs, check out the fort near the desert (just north of the 'swamp' cross road along the road). Watch out though because the orcs that 'spawn' there aren't as stupid as your typical orc. Just bring something shiny to give them and you'll be fine ;-)

Sorry to bring up a old post but rather than make a new one:

A poster above talks about the 'orc cave' in rat valley which is not there. I realize that the special orc units were post T2A but was the Cave a 'addition' to the mountains after T2A? That seems a little odd but <shrug>.
I can see the orc units not being there as they are non-T2A but wouldn't the cave itself, with possibley era accurate orcs, be there?

Never knew about the Lich spawn near Yew, that's pretty sweet. May have to check that one out.

All nice and good.... but any info on why the orc cave (NOT the out of era orc units) is not there?

There wasn't an orc cave, or cave at all, in T2A, but I don't know when it was added.
