Actually I think you've got it backwards. The silvers were 10k last I sold some and the gold trims are 8ish at best.

Gold trimmed chests are more rare hence it would make sense that they cost more. However, in the end it is always a buyers market and if the people want to pay the same for both they will pay the same for both.
