Patch 84 - Feb 6, 2009: Spell Disruption, Firefield, Boats
Patch 84 - Feb 6, 2009: Spell Disruption, Firefield, Boats
I really don't think I'll be playing much anymore. Not only was it quite the dice roll before this patch, but now ebolts and hally hits don't even interrupt 100% of the time anymore. That is just stupid to be honest, and doesn't make sense at all.
Re: Patch 84 - Feb 6, 2009: Spell Disruption, Firefield, Boats
It depends on the circle and how much damage is put out Choppa. Casting a greater heal and being hit with 12 damage gives you roughly a 30% chance to be successful. If you are hit with an average ebolt or hally you essentially won't be successful at all casting a spell at that level.
Re: Patch 84 - Feb 6, 2009: Spell Disruption, Firefield, Boats
That just makes it even more luck based unfortunately. You aren't even guaranteed an interrupt anymore, other than weaken/feeble/clumsy, which will allow people to just mini heal out of anything.Faust wrote:It depends on the circle and how much damage is put out Choppa. DO NOT, under any circumstances, listen to the poster above me. This is the same deuche who recommended retarded ideas like changing med penalties for magic/unmagic leather armour on Divinity.
Re: Patch 84 - Feb 6, 2009: Spell Disruption, Firefield, Boats
You have no idea what you are talking about. Choppa is one of the most advanced players on this server, or at least in the pvp field.Scythe wrote:DO NOT, under any circumstances, listen to the poster above me. From one experienced player to another, he is absolutely 100% correct. If hally hits & ebolts aren't 100% guarantee disrupt, then I don't see how the hell PvP is going to get any better, Faust.. So, now we are left with only debuffs for a guarantee'd disrupt, and those are a 1 time use-only..
I was highly disappointed today to see what tournaments and PvP has become here on UOSA. I was completely destroyed by a 2 hally-hit / disrupt kill. Not that these things don't happen, but to just see how completely random & luck, so to speak, PvP has become. I have never in my UO Career seen PvP so.. unstable..

Re: Patch 84 - Feb 6, 2009: Spell Disruption, Firefield, Boats
Until Derrick adds the correct combat mechanics that are on the test center you will be getting many hally hits that would never be occuring during the t2a era. There is nothing I can really do about it now. I have done the research and validated the mechanics well beyond. Until the changes are added people will continue to get rogue hally hits when they shouldn't be.
That is always one of the first few step processes in destroying a t2a shard by converting it into a fake t2a shard. This type of process is nothing new to me.Scythe wrote:DO NOT, under any circumstances, listen to the poster above me. Says the guy who isn't first place on the tourney board and has never even played the server.Scythe wrote:DO NOT, under any circumstances, listen to the poster above me. This is the same deuche who recommended retarded ideas like changing med penalties for magic/unmagic leather armour on Divinity.
Re: Patch 84 - Feb 6, 2009: Spell Disruption, Firefield, Boats
I played on this server a year ago when it had < 100 people on at all times. You were still on Divinity placing "first place on the tourney board" still. You play 24/7, you should be first place.Choppa X wrote:Says the guy who isn't first place on the tourney board and has never even played the server.Scythe wrote:DO NOT, under any circumstances, listen to the poster above me. Re: Patch 84 - Feb 6, 2009: Spell Disruption, Firefield, Boats
WTF. why in gods name did someone think Hally hits and EBS shouldnt disrupt spells 100% of the time...was it really like this before in T2A!??!
jesus H christ. i havent even tested this out cuz i've been macroing..but i guess my friends and i are quitting. that is absurd.. even if it is the way it was...its stupid. they obviously changed SOME things for the better..and that ridiculous script being one of them.

Re: Patch 84 - Feb 6, 2009: Spell Disruption, Firefield, Boats
hobbes spell disruption was never constant based on any damage in the history of Ultima Online. At least up until well after the UOR publish. The effects of RunUO has poisoned so many people it's quite sickening for what some people actually believe existed and what doesn't.
PS
We use the exact formula for spell disruption stripped straight from the Demo.
Disruption was never constant... It was based on the circle being casted, the magery level of the caster, and the amount of damage being dealt. I have a feeling the same formula that we currently use still exists in current day UO. People don't realize that all overall damages amplified after the UOR publish. Resist was modified going from a 54% to roughly around 30% for 6th circle spells causing more damage.Patch - 1/20/98
There will be a chance of the casting aborting if the mage is struck during his casting process. The chance is based on how much damage you took, and your ability at magery.

Re: Patch 84 - Feb 6, 2009: Spell Disruption, Firefield, Boats
I recall Faust complaining after losing a duel to Hemp that he won out of luck and not out of skill.
Changes like this will place dueling more on luck than skill. I doubt mage 1v1 will be a flavor much longer. I'm glad I have a group to play with.
