PvM with a warrior sucks...plain and simple.

DONT do it.

Barding if anything should be included with a weapon skill if you really have some fetish about beating something with your weapon. Otherwise stick to magery / taming farming.

go to destard and bs spam until dragon dies. take $$ to the bank. rinse and repeat.

now, make a warrior.
scratch your head on how to get anywhere near destard. may be buy recall scrolls, go there. ???? you are dead since you suck and can't scratch a dragon.
Actually, if you knew how to play a warrior you'd know how to make money on a new one. Start 50 Combat, 50 healing. Use your newbie 100gp to get a "real sword" (go to the smithy NPC). Then beg for 120gp to buy bandages (a bolt of cloth, aka 50 bandage). Now go to Britian Sewers. You'll be able to make 2.5-3.5k fairly instantly if no one else is in the sewers.

As for your mage idea, chances are as soon as you arrive at Destard, you'll be dead due to the lack of skills, stats, equipment, and the high risk of PKs, and of being killed by drakes & dragons.

If you honestly can't figure out how to play a warrior, that's fine, but don't think that just because you can't do it, others can't either.

Nope. what equipment? I run around naked casting bs outside destard where dragons can't see me. What exactly is the trouble? and pk's? Never seen one all the time I've been there.

Like I said, if you know what you are doing mage is easy street right out of the gate. With a warrior, you just signed up for hell.

Seriously, if any of you ever fought and killed a dragon with just a warrior without running away 40 times to heal, please post!!

(oh, and dragons die after about 2-3 BS)

And as we all know, killing dragons is the only way to make money.

this actually has little to do with money. it's about expectations and limitations.

Why would you hunt dragons with a warrior? Different templates hunt different things. Dragons aren't even worth hunting to begin with.

FYI, 50-60 magery (enough to cast blade spirit) hardly is enough to call yourself a mage. Mages have magery, meditation, eval, wrestling. Warriors can have magery and not be considered a mage.

My main character never had magery, so I have to say that you can play without it.

Actually Superdunk, roadkill is correct IMO, I started on this shard with 50 healing 50 resist i went and collected cotton and killed deers around moonglow untill i had enuf skill and resources to go to shame 1, with a week of shame 1 i had a 2story and a 7xgm char with 100k to start my mage.

Learn to play uo, and learn the many different techniques of starting on new shard.

EDIT - I missed your one post about no pks im destard and yah yah. all i can say is GO RUN AROUND NAKED AND KILL DRAGONS AND PLZ STFU

I made my first guy, 50 heal 50 resist gm'd fighting skill killed orcs / liches / undead and did my magery / resist

My skills now are
Magery
Med
Heal
anat
mace
tactics
resist

After i gm my magery and get my resist to 94 ish ill drop healing for eval, took me about a week to get there (when if irst started that week i playeda bout 2 hours a day cause the beggining sucks) and now i have a 7x tank mage that i can farm with when i need regs, and PVP with which is why i play this game.

P.S. im a ninja.

What.

This is true, you could even argue that a 50 music/provocation character has it easiest. They have the greatest chance (as a newbie) of beating almost any creature in the game if you want to get technical.

Does this make you a hypocrite? Let's examine how similiar your tactics are as a Mage shall we?

Sounds rather familliar to your "running away 40 times to heal" tactics to me.

Hey guy... i'm going to make a suggestion. Go back and re-read your posts.

You have profusely claimed that NOONE can play a Warrior because of his lack of magic.
You are claiming a Warrior cannot 1vs1 creatures such as Dragons .
You are trying to convince us that a Mage is the only way to go and is unfair/imbalanced on top of that.

Well, I have seen several people on this thread tell you they have personally played a Warrior in your scenarios without any of the problems you are claiming. Myself included. From what I understand so far, you obviously can play a mage with some amount of efficiency, well good for you, keep playing your mage.

Just because you personally cannot play a Warrior as effectively as you can a Mage, does not mean the game is unbalanced, or unfair to melee characters. I personally have played several different formats of Melee characters (with 0.0 magery) with great success. There is Barding and Archery for soloing the big stuff. There are always inscribers selling recall scrolls (that i used for escape only). There are moongates(that I use to get close to my destination). I'm sure there are plenty more combination of melee characters that are just as successful as your mage.

You seem to be harping on the usefulness of a blade spirit. I have a suggestion for you... why don't you and I meet up in game, you as your mage and me as my melee... let's go to shame and take turns taking let's say a blood elemental. You go right ahead an use your BS and watch it get dispelled instantly, while I keep on whacking and healing with aids.

Or let's try another reverse scenario. You say a melee character vs a dragon would have to run an heal several times. Are you saying your mage doesn't have similliar tactics? I mean, with a BS, you have that risk of it turning on you, may have to dispel it early, may run out of mana before the creature is dead and run to med.

All in All this is simply about the right too/tactic for the right job/scenario . The only scenario i've seen mentioned so far is your precious dragons in destard, other than my scenario that I would be THRILLED to indulge in with you. If you believe that a Mage is more powerful than a melee, thats fine. Don't sit here and try to convince everyone else of that same fact when they are playing melee characters exactly like you describe, and they are playing them with great success. Repeating yourself and belittling a melee's ability is not going to change anyone's mind.
