Starting out...

Post by Arigold »

Hey boys & girls... I just installed the client and got busy creating a char but I'm at a bit of a loss... I used to play T2A back in the day but haven't been active for many years. I'm very excited to be able to play this era of UO again and very much look forward to getting back into things.

Unfortunately, I'm having a bit of trouble remembering exactly how to get the ball rolling. I'm going to make my 1st char a basic warrior and go from there, but where do folks hang out on this shard? I've been roaming around Britain but haven't seen anyone around.

Any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks!

heya and welcome to the shard

i would say the quickest way to get some money (in relative safety) would be mining and selling ingots/ore on the forums or in the mirc channel. i would check britain, vesper, moonglow for more players hanging out near the banks.

if you have any other questions, feel free to pm me in mirc (biscophan)

Or if you don't feel like grinding away at the ingots and want to jump straight into PVMing for gold.

1. Make a char 50 magery / 50 resist (magery for travel, resist to stay alive longer and because it's a bitch to train if you are srating out and are at 0 resources)
2. Macro your stats up (snooping dex, herding str, spirit speak int)
3. Buy healing from a healer, buy a fighting skill
4. Gather some cotton (moonglow) or wool from sheep (yew) make bandages
5. Go into the woods and kill low level stuff with melee, make some basic gold
6. Visit graveyards and farm a couple of sets of bone armor + make gold
7. Find a rune library (either buy or mark a rune there) so you have a hub of travel and don't need to mark your own runes (there's one just south of moonglow)
8. Find player vendors with GM weaponry and buy some quality weapons
9. Start visiting dungeons and places with medium monsters
10. Go from there

And don't forget you can make 3 accounts with multiple characters on each. If you're starting from scratch that's your source of noob weapons, reagents and gold right there. It's a nice boost.

Might seem like a long list, but really it only takes a couple of days to become completely self sufficient and start making a good amount of gold. IMO it beats any sort of grind work/resource gathering (way more fun to).
