Lumberjack Archer vs. Tamer vs. you tell me....

Hi all,

I joined this shard yesterday. A big thanks to the people who created it.

I haven't played UO since circa 99', so I'm a bit rusty, but....

I used to have an awesome hi-dex/str lumberjack gm resist/archer char who dressed light, used bows, poisons and potions and did serious damage. Is this char still effective in T2A? If so, what is the skill set?

Is lumberjacking as effective as it was? I remember combining lumberjack with my fighter as well.

I know (have read) about the Hally mage being kick ass. Thanks for that post. Is there any other kick ass chars on this shard? If so, what are their skill/stat sets?

How about a tamer char? Are they also effective in T2A?

I know this is alot to ask. Thanks in advance. Looking to build up several chars and make this place my home.

Hey man, Ill give my .02 cents about character templates real quick.

Lumberjacking does nothing on this shard other than allow you to hack trees

for wood, making it useless on a warrior or mage character.

Your archery is extremely slow! I am an archer and think its really slow, although

some hits are very strong.

I would probably do something like this for a dexer char WITH archery:

GM Archery, Tactics, Anatomy, Healing, Macing, Resist, Magery or Hiding.

For a tamer, which are GREAT for PvM and such:

GM Taming, Animal Lore, Veterinary, Magery, Resist, Meditation, Eval

Again, the classic tank mage is the best but requires some good skill:

GM Magery, Resist, Eval, Med, Wrestling, Tactics, Macing/Archery/Swords your pick.


Animal Taming is VERY slow here and takes quite a while. Im glad you came here

BTW, let us know where you played on OSI back in 99, what style of playing

I used to play in Atlantic with my cousin who actually still has a char there (10+ years, named Frolak). We played from the beginning, so I recently went to his house and he showed me all of the unique stuff that he has accumulated over the years. It's funny, he walks to the bank in Britan and people are like..."who is this guy! How did you get that!, etc" Lol. I became reminiscent and decided to get back into it. I figured joining this shard would spare me the learning curve of all the updates that have happened since I left. Not to mention it is free. I always enjoyed a nice mix of role play, PvM, and PvP (I liked to hunt pks).

If anyone else has a char profile that they would like to share....one that works for them....I'm all ears.
