after login to T2A grayscreen or MS client.exe stopped work

Hi I used the ftp client download from T2A download page, 1.1 framework, and Razor and filled in the correect info on Razor.. I can get to the login screen for T2A and it even says I have successfully logged in to the server but the screen stays gray and never goes anywhere.. or I get an MSN message saying the client.exe has stopped working and windows will try to determine why.. also the screen is pretty tiny and cannot be made to go into fullscreen during the brief time it seems to all be working right in the login/pre login stage.. I can get the screen bigger by turning down the resolution in CP but its still not full screen not sure if that will matter if I can get past the gray screen.

Using windows Vista, and ran Razor as administrator etc etc Ive looked at some past threads and the problems they had and the solutions that were given and I didnt see any that sounded exactly the same... Thank you! Khaz

Edit: I hadnt seen the winRAR dl through the first couple rounds of trying but I DLed that and played around with using it on the client but the same things are happening still...

Try turning Windows Aero off by changing the theme to "Windows Classic"

I use Vista and UO works in both modes for me, but if I had to take a guess, that would be my first troubleshooting step.

Wow, thanks for the super fast response Orionsume! Im unfamiliar with windows aero but ill take a look in (control panel?)

Edit: found and changed to winClassic but it was set on Vista not aero trying Razor again now

Ack still same problem... says Ive logged in successfully but it never goes anywhere from the gray login screen.. and sometimes gives the client.exe stopped working message and closes the empty login screen out but sometimes it doesnt give the message and the empty login screen just sits there.

This sounds like a version problem to me.
If you downloaded the 5.0.8.3 client with patch, try copying the patch over the the client installation folder and run it right from in there

After you install the client, the instruction say to run the PatchTo5.0.8.3.exe file to patch you up to the latest version. If you installed the client to an unusual location, like d:\Ultima Online, sometimes the Patcher trys to parth the client installer, instead of the client itself.

To get around this copy the patcher program to the folder in which UO had been installed, and run the patch from there, ensuring that the correct files are upgraded.

If this doesn't work let me know. It's my best guess.

Uninstalled and reinstalled , ran the client again everything in C drive in same spot
nothing happened then I let the UO patcher run for awhile both in the UO client installer folder and the client folder and both times it ran for a little while but seemed to freeze up

Then log in was successful and it was in full screen and I was ingame for a minute or so first time then about 30 seconds , then about 3-4 minutes the third time.. all times got the client has stopped working message and closed out the game

So I closed a few browsers and a couple other small apps I had on previously and did a pc restart and now the screen is small again although once ingame it looks like razor is designed to run the game in a smaller window and give you some space to keep UI stuff, pack, razor window, regs and supply counter tabs open all the time? And its doing the client stopped working message still and closing the game out maybe a little more quickly after the pc restart.

How long do I need to let UOpatch go?
Need to reinstall and let it fully patch without freezing? Because I try to run it again and it just sits there where it previously froze.

It's not freezing up, it's patching.
Wait it out. There are no progress updates while it is patching a file.
If you end task on the patcher your files will be correupted and you will need to reinstall from scratch.

Third try at uninstall wiping everything and reinstalling fresh seems like everything is working right, Razor likes the client and the game is running super good. Still getting the drops though / Windows->' the client.exe has stopped working ' windows trying to determine the problem blah blah etc No errors or any file problems whatsoever so far this time.....
Sometimes I can play 20-45 minutes and sometimes its only 20 seconds to a few minutes several times in a row.
Windows firewall is disabled but I went ahead and authorized Razor and UO anyway. Running Vista which Im sure is the culprit somehow...
