Yew orc fort: a count-free warzone
Re: Yew orc fort: a count-free warzone
As a Shadowclan orc formely with the Bloodrock clan, I can tell you the clans aren't exactly the same but the reasons for wanting this are very similar. Shadowclan will grow and prosper with or without this happening but I think it has no negatives and thus can only be good. Here are some things to consider.
The Yew Fort is a war-zone. It gets a lot of attention. Burning off long term counts becomes difficult. Some orcs like the option of town raids. Other orcs like me are red and will never go to town unless some event removes the guards, but it remains an option for those willing to burn off the enough long term counts. Having everyone orange at the fort helps them with this.
Similar to BrC, Shadowclan wants humans to attack without fear of getting counts. Given, SC doesn't give counts so this *shouldn't* happen, but with open enrollment it can. Other humans sometimes war other humans at the fort. HOOWAH CHAOS! Helps them too.
Note that Shadowclan, like Bloodrock, accepts all War Invites and would continue to do so. This measure is just intended as a catch-all to encourage players to come fight at the fort without filling the shard with murderers. Everyone thought it a great success when done at the old Bloodrock Fort (my it rest in peace) and if implemented it will be again.

Re: Yew orc fort: a count-free warzone
Judging by your responses, it seems the majority of you want this as much as we do. The sooner this might happen the better, as we are still getting counts for defending our fort and some members cannot res and join the fight due to statloss concerns. Enacting this count-free warzone would be a huge relief for us and only add to the enjoyment of this server. I agree it is a win - win for both humans and orcs alike.
What else can we do to plead our case for this ? How did the Bloodrock clan go about doing it ? Any suggestions are greatly welcomed

I think if nothing is done, quite honestly there wont be any orcs to fight after a while as we will all be burning off counts whilst dead.
Re: Yew orc fort: a count-free warzone
I fully support the shard support the orcs.
Would be great if you all could dig up some era accurate info on something like this being done on a OSI shard in era.

I thought it was already set up like this? Went into the orc area and they were orange to me and my toon wasn't in a guild.
Re: Yew orc fort: a count-free warzone
Not sure why this was the case for you. Just logged in on a non-clanner and orcs are blue so nope...no change has come yet. We've been getting charged for murder all day. Had a blue come around who thought it funny to turn several of our members red....Boondock_Saint wrote:I thought it was already set up like this? We love this game and wish to remain here for some time...but if the current situation stands shadowclan presence will thin out and likely disappear. We are desperately hoping this doesn't happen...

This looks like fun. However, i wont be looting you, i expect the same in return.

I'm going to make the logical assumption that you went to the Bloodrock Fort near Compassion:

Shadowclan is asking for a similar sort of arrangement, and as many have pointed out in this thread it would be a win/win for the Orcs and the general population of the server. Shadowclan has called Yew Orc Fort home for well over a decade: Catskills, Siege Perilous, and one other RunUO server. Shadowclan has been inhabiting the Yew Fort here on UOSA for just shy of 2 months now, attempting to defend it and make it their home. During this time the guild's ranks have grown, they have secured something like 7+ houses in the surrounding area, and have gone to War with over 20 guilds. They are trying to promote fun gameplay here on UOSA, not just for themselves but for others as well & it's hard to do that if you're macroing off counts or macroing skills due to statloss.
edit: Also wanted to point out that Shadowclan now houses several former members of the aforementioned (and now inactive) Bloodrock Urks

Status as a respected foe is something that is earned in-game through repeated interactions. Due to the generally chaotic nature of fights around the Orc Fort, losing items upon death is a reality: if an Orc doesn't loot you, someone else passing by just might. Shadowclan Orcs will typically disarm fallen foes and loot items that they can use: reagents, potions, bandages (consumables, most generally).Missy B wrote:This looks like fun. That being said, you are encouraged to come on down and join in the fun!

Odds are that if a lone attacker falls prey to a group of melee Orcs, your runes are safe. If I'm there on my Mojoka (magic casting Orc), I may take loose runes and leave you a town rune + recall regs. As previously stated: relationships with Shadowclan are typically formed in-game through interaction. Throwing a rez and not drylooting are great ways to make yourself known as an honorable foe.
See you in-game.

I support this count-free warzone with shadowclan!
Re: Yew orc fort: a count-free warzone
Make this happen asap! I love fighting orcs and would hate to see their numbers thin out.
