House Survey Tool

Post by Kefka »

Because house deeds are not blessed on this server like they were during a certain period of T2A, I believe that the house survey tool should be made available so that players can see if a house will fit in a particular spot without having to carry the deed around on them.

The survey tool was added LATE T2A, so it wouldn't be an out of era addition.

The PURPOSE of the house placement tool was to allow future trammies to go to trammel and prepare to place their houses. After 9/11 EA stopped all house decay and then stopped house placement lol. The house placement tool was for trammies.

I think the best option is to make houses place where they appear in the client! Stealing house deeds from players and corpses was part of the game, it was a rush. Wars were fought over house decays and deeds taken from the unweary.

Fix the actual house placement, before you start including such dumpola.

I agree, the current house placement rules are not T2A accurate. I had a heck of a time trying to replace my old house from T2A era. Not sure what all is wrong but needs improvements.

I believe the placement image is offset slightly towards the northwest. It may not be offset and the problem is simply with the Z axis of the image. It could possibly be up a few levels on the Z axis making it appear to be offset and essentially "dropping" do to gravity upon placement.

The rules are accurate I think. It should be one tile between an unplacable object. Also, there must be one tile in between the west/east side of a house and 10 tiles in between the north/south side of another house. There may be a few other things but themajority of it probably is correct. The main problem is probably the phantom image when placing the house.

I've tried to fix the house pacement preview image and have failed to adjust it properly. The image offset seems to shif depending on where the cursor is.

My own thoughts on this has been to get rid of the preview alltogether as the preview itself was added late in the era.

Land Surveying Tool
This tool will allow players to check land without have to buy a house deed, thus allowing multiple people in a group to search different locations. To use the tool:

* Double-click the surveying tool.
* A window will appear listing the different house types. Click the house type you wish to check.
* A small description of the house type and the number of lockdowns it can hold will appear.
* To evaluate the area, click the “E” in the window.
* The house type you selected will appear in front of you. Move the house to the location you want to test and singe-click.
* You will receive a message telling you whether the area can hold that house type.
o If the area is acceptable, a temporary house of the type you selected will appear for approximately 10 seconds to let you see what a house would look like in that location.
o If the area is not acceptable, then you will simply receive a message telling you that the house type will not fit.

Mens Rea, I do miss you in game, I think you're a great player and all...

But the comments you made, coming from someone who has gained 99% of his wealth/items from looting houses, is a little....biased.

I remember a bug in T2A era where I could place scrolls on uneven territory and it would fool the server into thining the house was on "even" ground. The only downfall was stuff would fall through the floor if you were not careful.

There's no need for land surveying tools, whatsoever.

right, that would mean people wouldn't have house deeds on them when they get killed/scammed by their guildies.

Oh without the preview it would be even harder! I have adjusted to the shift, the preview still is useful.

PS Kefka, no trammie changes here. Houses stay unblessed, survey tools stay vapor.

I dont really care, I would never use it.

It was just a suggestion considering that it was a t2a patch (i believe)
