UOSA Tournament System

Post by Ardos »

There were years that this attracted veterans and pvpers from multiple shards and increased the reason for coordinated guilds and promoted competition. It was sad to see the scheduled tournament events removed and was a great part of the shards identity. As a player coming back it is one of the things I missed most about UOSA. My player run tournaments are fun and I plan to bring them back but they do not attract the numbers the shard run ones do. It is also a good incentive for non traditional pvpers to expand their horizons to the game. I hear it's been considered and hope to see atleast a weekly or biweekly 1v1, 2v2,3v3 And 4v4. Any thoughts?

PS also all the cr3w scrubs who got to advance up the rankings when all the good players became inactive should be given a run for their money.

For some dumb reason, events are supposedly never coming back. It IS a shame that a huge draw to uosa, and a great motivation for newer players to learn pvp, has been shelved.

I think 1v1's should be conducted and recorded. They add a whole other aspect of fun to the game. Don not give away any prizes. Just post the winners on UOSA website and let people be happy. At the very least it will raise the shard population slightly.

Organize your own events.

So many of the "top event goers" (yeah Ill call them that!) would sit in IRC waiting for an event to start, then log in do the event, then log out - They weren't playing UOSA, they were playing Eventland.

So? They were still playing the game.
How many have quit since then. I know guys I used to ran with quit. And events were fantastic man. People loved not having to use 300 of each reg and a keg of stam pots, people loved the prizes, and te competition. Player ran events are great, BUT, answer this; why is it when a player ran event is going on, the population of the event is so small, compared to the server run events which had new players constantly competing? 2 reasons, the people that were too poor were still able to compete because they didnt have to use all of their stock, and because no player run event can do capture the flag, or even last man standing. Ctf was so awesome, at least bring that back because we as players can't create that experience. Scienter, jay and many others are constantly trying to do player events and they deserve to be commended, but no matter how hard they try, they wot be able to make a capture the flag or a last man standing. Bring those 2 back, and the dueling tournys, well the men I just named are doing a great job of organizing that

I don't really care about the pvp/tournaments, but why didn't the Staff just scale them back to once a week or something?

I don't see how that's any worse than a GM logging on and running something.

One of the reasons I decided to start playing was the awesome tourney brackets on the website. I was pretty disappointed when I found out they stopped having them.

It is utterly stupid that these events were shut down and makes absolutely no sense unless you are trying to reduce the populatiin. The events brought so much pvp and competition to the server and boosted the population dramatically. I laugh at comments like roadkills. If you have ever pvped on this shard back then and compare it to now itspretty obvious how beneficial the events were to the server. Back then the events weren't all about just pvp. It brought a lot of the shard together and made it easy to socialize and get familarized witb some of the other players. Not to mention all the pvp it broughtt before and after the events in bux.

The admins should at least take it into consideration. Take a shard vote. I guarentee it would be at least 10 to 1 in favor of bringing them back.

Qft.
There's absolutely nothing beneficial from having the events taken away. It didnt make "those people" that waited for events all day play the game more. If anything, they have completely quit the game since the events were removed. I know 2 friends I used to play with who completely quit due to it. Keeping events out is just going to continue hurt the population.

A compromise of a weekly tournament seems like the best way forward to me

Will put reasons later typing on a phone is difficult

Also CTF's were a great way to meet people, consider joining with them because of judging team skills etc and were a fun way to gather all the different style of players. We don't need massive rewards for these events they were just fun. Also events run by staff is era accurate. The automated event system offers the shard the ability to host events that were similar to the era with much less work. I see no argument against it.
