N-S PvP Tourny w/ silver rewards "newbie players only"

N-S will be hosting a PVP tournament.

1st place: 5 silver
2nd place: 3 silver
3rd place: 2 silver

*Equipment will be SUPPLIED
*1 vs 1
*Dexers welcome
*This Tournament is for New Players only
*must have a myuosa player account
*all players will be screened by Swill Bag to determine eligibility
*All newbs competing must report to our tower in blood plains AS A GHOST. "67.19N 64.3E"

Tourny will be held this Saturday at 10pm eastern time.

More tournaments will come depending on the success of this event.

1. Awarding silver
2. Using challonge to run it
3. 10PM saturday EST = perfect time for UOSA tourneys since Euro/Aus/Asia can attend

Damn, I just checked since I figured the player number was relative to it's age on MyUOSA but it doesn't seem to work like that.

There isn't really any way to preclude vets in that case.

Agreed, define "new". I've been here forever, but I'm just now starting over with very little. Do I still count as a vet, or a new player?

There's like no way to check who's new bro.
Anyone can macro up a 7x char in a week if they throw enough cash at it (and lets face it, every good pvper has enough gold).
Disqualify 7x cause no real "new" guy will have gm resist? Just drop it to 89.7 or whatever.
Have "qualifier" fights to check how good someone is? Just duel like a moron there.

So in the end I'm curious as to what you even want to achieve by only letting "newer" players enter?
You'll get no community support whatsoever and low turn out to boot.
If you are serious about hosting tournaments, just copy AshBorn with less payout for 1-3 and high raffle prizes, voila, problem solved.

At the moment I really think this is just a huge troll and you already fell off your chair a dozen times laughing at how everyone here is frothing at their mouth because of the silver/"new" only issues. But I'll gave you the benefit of the doubt anyway, so think about what I suggested, because god knows the server could use more player-run events.

Would probably have to go by Forum join date. and not allow any join dates after the event announcement time to weed out older players making a new forum account just for this. Something like this is all I could see doing, as like someone above me said that anyone could make a new toon and macro it up in time. So, can't go by individual toon.

Agreed, this tournament needs further planning and may be postponed until more thought is put into it.
Maybe well just roam the lands and find lumber jackers and miners to enter.
Don't be surprised if you kill a new player and find a stack of silver on em.
Of course, stats will be studied and matched up as close as possible.

My glorious leader Swill Bag has left me some instructions on who will be accepted

the following will disqualify you:
having neon anything
living in any dwelling larger than a tower
riding a mare
owning high level rares
i think you get the picture...

you should atleast be semi competent with some fighting skill, we are not looking day 1 noobs to beat eachother with fishing poles


im aware that most of these factors can be hidden which is why Swill Bag will screen the contestants with his ever vigilant scam detection skills as we get closer to the date
fortunately the guidelines should only exclude about 10 players on the shard
