All you need to do tmaps is Carto to decode them, and lockpicking to pick the locks. Also with lvl1's you don't need either and can use magic unlock to pick the treasure chest.

Thanks, but isnt it true that if you have higher mining then you can be so many tiles away from the chest - eg, 0 mining you have to be on the chest but with gm mining you can be 10 tiles away and dig it up? Or was this post-T2a?

that's true, but if you use UOAM or a sextant to check your location according to the maps coords, you won't need it. And most rune libraries will have a run that'll get you to 1 tile away from the treasure.

Come to Aceopolis for GM chests to train lockpicking on. Free gates from WBB, or join #aces in irc on irc.wildirc.net for a gate/rune.

Here's mine. I highly recommend item ID, as the amount of magic items on level 4-5 chests (heck, even 3's) will destroy any ID items you have.

Michael,

Can you do Level 5 maps? I thought you needed GM lockpick to open level 5s?

I haven't here. Like you said, I would need GM lockpick. I did them on OSI, though, and its something like 40-50 magic items in a level 5 chest.

edit: suppose I should have noted that he isn't finished yet. Mining will end up at 0 and he'll be a 7x GM. I hate lockpicking.
