I understand the goal of this shard is to keep things the way they originally were, but I am guessing the non-blessing of runebooks was just and overlooked mistake, as to why it was "fixed" quickly on osi. In any case spell books should not be blessed either then. It is much easier to redo a spellbook than to find and walk to make a new runebook. Especially with private runes that are not in the rune libraries.
Many people I have talked to love the fact that this is old school UO but have left just for the runebook alone.
Also. What is the deal with guards in town? I have been killed once or twice while afk, near npc's, guards etc, and the perp lives on lol. Anyway this thread was not meant to be a rant I was just curious and confused a bit is all. Thanks!

Re: Blessing Runebooks, Killed in town?
For the record, Spellbooks have always been "blessed" - they were this way before the "blessed" status was even added to the game. That is why they do not drop on corpses here.wacked wrote:I understand the goal of this shard is to keep things the way they originally were, but I am guessing the non-blessing of runebooks was just and overlooked mistake, as to why it was "fixed" quickly on osi. As a former player who ran a large rune library on this shard, I can say it's much easier to recreate a 16 spot runebook than it is to acquire all 64 scrolls and add them to the spellbook. You can copy a runebook in under 5 minutes if you have 100 intelligence and 100 meditation.
As for your death in town, there are many tricks people use to do town killing. I don't know the situation exactly for your deaths, but here's a few ways they could have done it:
1. Gate into town, throw purple potions, go back through gate.
2. Someone recalled into town next to you holding a bag of purple potions which were activated outside of town by other players, resulting in damage to you, but no guardwhack, because the guy carrying the bag wasn't the cause of the damage, he was just holding the source.
Eat. Sleep. Ultima.

Didn't know this was possible - the "chain reaction" bomb.

Never heard if the bag thing but I do remember a server where a chest with purple pots being chopped causing the boooooom, para the guy energy field him in and let the nuke go.
