Since Buc's is a ghost town, let's makeTrinsic guardless.
Well, at times on Atlantic at least, there were no guards in Trinsic, and there was an undead invasion or something of that sort. Since nobody really uses trini, and it's a big town, I think it'd be cool to make it guardless, and maybe it could become a hub for pvp. I personally enjoy town fighting (with spells), and I don't think I'm alone. I also seem to remember this being the case at times on Great Lakes, so I'm not sure it was an Atlantic only phenomenon.

They had it like this on IPY, I don't really know why.
If no one is going to Bucs, what's going to draw them to Trinsic?

Buc's doesn't have mage shops, has that (in the eyes of some) pesky teleporter, and well, it doesn't seem like much of a town. The novelty of having a new pvp spot I think would also draw some.

no way...just because it happened on one shard for a certain amount of time I don't think it should be added here...

I might be crazy when I say this, but 90% of all reds "bank" out of their house. This includes restocking their reagents from their big old chest of regs that they bought risk-free on their blueFwerp wrote:Buc's doesn't have mage shops, has that (in the eyes of some) pesky teleporter, and well, it doesn't seem like much of a town. Well the argument for it is that running battles in Trinsic can be amazingly fun with guilds occupying rooftops and antiPKs gating in to the area to fight battles with synchronized teleporting up to the roof.
Also, Buccs basically sucks ass as far as PvP spots go. The bank is a complete dead end and EVERYONE hates those goddamn teleporter+recall newbies (red and blue). Trinsic is a more natural place for a pvp hotspot. For instance, on Atlantic in my experience most of the Order Vs Chaos large scale fighting took place in Trinsic because Britain was too laggy and the other towns pretty much blow (LLTS Order and friends vs all the big Chaos guilds was amazing)
The POINT of Trinsic is that it is a full town that doesn't have extremely lame getaway points or constant dead ends so you get completely buttraped by 5 guys. A smart player in Trinsic can use the terrain to his advantage and do some really interesting stuff as far as strategy goes (well, as far as strategy goes in UO) Dismissing this as not worth consideration due to just "adding another red spot" is really not giving the idea full credit. Reds have basically like 90% of the game to play in but encouraging them to congregate and pvp in a town suited to PvP could really create something that would foster growth among pvp guilds and also get absent pvp guilds such as +- a reason to consider playing here instead of Divinity. And before you say fuck divinity players remember that on a emulator shard EVERY player who is actively playing contributes to the overall community even if they are a whiny crybaby.
Judging by the influential (loud mouth imo) posters on this forum this idea will be shouted down with "WE ARENT IPY" and "NOT IN THE PATCH NOTES" etc. As if those people haven't done enough to further deter serious pvp guilds from this server. While this hampers the chances for this to be implemented here I would implore the staff to at least consider this idea or at least test it out as part of a quest ala OSI. That way the staff and players could at least experience what a true running city battle can be.
If the reds don't come or the pvp doesn't pick up more than what was lost? 1 less town to bank in for blues for a month or two?
I say it is most definitely worth a shot.

Well...Certainly there is an argument for doing it now and then. I am just saying it shouldn't be a permament change. Sounds like it would be fun to see though.

this would be more of an RP/Event thing...which I think is long overdue,Senses wrote:Well...Certainly there is an argument for doing it now and then. I am just saying it shouldn't be a permament change. Sounds like it would be fun to see though.

I can see a UNDEAD INVASION, but guard-less....come on.
Why do people come to this shard and suggest out of era change when the main page says stuff like.
And,
If they stop adhering to T2A accuracy, then its just another Ultima Online free shard that will change anything to whatever a group of people want it to be, usually resulting in another angry group of individuals.
Besides no one wants to go the Trinsic its to big, if you just recall in you would have to run all around that massive ass town just to figure out that no one is there to pvp with.
Although I will admit, it would probably one of the funnest towns to play in because of teleporting on roofs, walls ect.
The fact still remains that unguarding Trinsic isn't going to be some kind of pvp cure-all that will transform the shard into heaven, in fact it is logical to believe that creating another unguarded town will only serve to further divide people.

Tampering with the era in hope of achieving balance is not something that we will do
And,
We aim to replicate the T2A era as best we can and within technical limitations as a whole.

I seriously doubt we'll see guilds just chilling out in Trinsic on random rooftops teleporting in mass quantities
People will still use the terrain to their advantage to assist their recall (wall of stone doorway, recall.. teleport to Trinsic wall, recall.. and so forth)
All this is doing is giving people 2 unguarded town zones to go to instead of 1.

Re: Since Buc's is a ghost town, let's makeTrinsic guardless.
This was actually done for afew days in december for an undead invasion and it was a great time. In the future we'll need to disable Trinny as a newbie starting town as OSI/EA did for the era undead invasion, as that was part of the reason for not letting it run longer.
Re: Since Buc's is a ghost town, let's makeTrinsic guardless.
If you read my post, you'd have noted that it was grounded in the era, and it's not from left field. Why do people come to this shard and suggest out of era change when the main page says stuff like.
I suppose that's one way of looking at it. I look at it as adding a more desirable unguarded town that is particularly fun to pvp in.All this is doing is giving people 2 unguarded town zones to go to instead of 1.
Also, nobody said it would be a panacea, and I'm not saying it should be permanent (though, frankly, I recall fairly lengthy swaths of time where Trinisic was unguarded). As Derrick intimated, I think having undead invasions for a few days a month could potentially be a great boon. With town criers mentioning it, a message of the day, IRC buzz, and the like, I don't think it's far-fetched to think there would be a good deal of people pvping in Trinisic. Moreover, it seems like an extremely innocuous thing to experiment with. I frankly foresee no real negative consequences except some poor new players being griefed; but, that's an inevitability, as we all know.

I agree that there should be some undead invasions in Trinsic along with periods of unguardedness, I just didn't think it should be another Bucs.
Dude the more zombies the merrier, IMO thats the one of the main problems with UO not enough zombie outbreaks, throw in some pvp and you have yourself an evening.
I was targeting this
Not at you, sorry if this was misconstrewed.
