When I had the option to go to Korea, I opted to stay here because I was young and lacked the seek for adventure that my peers had. When you mentioned Eriador I immediately thought of this... so I searched both of our names on TL (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/brood-w ... gner-style)... trying to find the grudgematch he and I had a couple of years ago... I'll edit.

haha, what a small world. Pretty funny you actually played him too. He was pretty damn good way back then, but got REALLY angry when he lost, hah. I met drone in a channel called 'stratforumregs' in USA East where some pretty decent players hung out (they were all from the strategy forum for SC/BW). Some Liquid players hung out there too and lots of smurfs frequented the place.

I was around in the "toyland" and -=^un4^=-/{][)K} days where the best English speaking players hadn't encountered anything but Peruvians and such, so when Koreans came around (specifically BoxeR) they dodged the shit out of them and called them cheaters/hackers. I told... Sayle I think in an interview where I did a Battle.Net attack (casters distract you with jokes/questions/make you do fucked up builds and try to beat randoms) that my brother and his friends used to dodge `SlayerS_BoxeR` because he was a hacker and had mineral/auto-microing hacks! :P

Boxer had godlike micro, and when bwchart started hitting the scenes, we could see he had 300-450! APM. His tank drops were hilarious too, using 2 tanks + 1 dropship > insane numbers of protoss units.

Toyland was a channel right? That was one of the ones I'd hit trying to find good games. I swear, all those channels were like speakeasies; you'd have to know someone to get in or even find out the name. Plus the good players would create new ones and move there when the baddies found out about the old one

Indeed, just like all the French Canadians slobbing on ElkY's balls in "Tiny". Poor little hacking Testie :(

If it's "done" then the shard will have to reinvent itself somehow to create interest. Or it will just continue as its going for a few more years before who knows what.

"though"? :P South Korea is awesome. Great people, tasty BBQ and cheap soju. A paradise in this hell we call Earth.

Oh I would have LOVED to have moved to South Korea, trust me. That was more of a wistful 'though'

All this negativity... I'm having fun, I hope others are too. Is there room for improvement? Sure... but that's true with almost *anything* in life. I think people need to realize at the end of the day it's all about enjoyment. If you enjoy it here, great! If not, well then feel free to move on. There's no need to hang around and be bitter.

I understand that people want to pk. Pks don't get enough action on this server; that's for sure.

But, you folks just completely ruined the entire experience for a ton of newbies on their first real outting. You chose to forego the actual crawl, and then stopped anyone from ressurrecting and coming back.

Essentially, Pks cut their own throats. You got too greedy.
Completely agree

I think, for a few people who have been here a while, Derrick is the dad for the server, and the vets are the uncles that want to see the child prosper. Some people see the lack of automated events as the poison. I see certain poisonous player elements as the issue.

It's mainly all a bunch of backseat parenting. No one really hates it here. We all just want to see it get better.

I would love a natural transition into UOR. Just no trammel pls.

UOR would add some diversity interms of templates and mix things up a bit.

Again: http://www.uorenaissance.com/

UO:Renaissance is an Ultima Online free-shard, based on Renaissance era mechanics, without the influences of Trammel.

If SecondAge did what you guys are suggesting we'd just be a duplicate of these guys!

I mean, I'd still keep playing on this shard no matter what. And I bet Derrick would do it better.

UOR is yuck. While there are more template choices, the pvp is very boring. Once again, this is only my opinion. But ya, plenty of other UOR servers out there. Some of the very cool features of a certain UOR server run by an ex UOSAsian could be implemented here to GREAT effect. Myuosa tracking of pvm and pvp stats would add a lot of depth to the bland greatness that is our uosa. Add AEs to the mix, and it would be gold.

just curious if any "higher power" will comment on if any of these ideas/suggestions are being seen and if any plans to possibly incorp any, even if its small bits and pieces?
