Housing limit. (Now with less libel!)

Post by Treysta »

Because the other thread was justifiably locked, I'll continue the discussion in this thread sans the libelous undertone in a continued attempt to understand this policy a bit better.
Anarcho wrote:Accounts which are used clearly to just hold houses for another player who has 3 accounts already are not tolerated and dealt with.
Can you define "accounts which are used clearly to just hold houses for another player"? Does the account owner have to play once a month? Once a week? Daily? Do they have to use the houses on their account?

Essentially, I'd like to know where the line is drawn when determining between a normal account and one that is "clearly used to hold houses". If this proverbial line is not concrete and is instead drawn on a case-by-case basis, can you shed some light on what criteria you use to determine your course of action?

Almost every vet here has at least 20 accounts that they have used at one point or another, or have access to. This will never be fixed.

Could be fixed if such home-hoarding vets gave up their ever-loving pixels for the good of the shard. Having more than 15 houses is just twisted. Always disliked the 3 account/15 house limit (although I admit to taking advantage of it back in the real estate salad days).

This is probably just another "Jealous of Vega thread"....

Houses of all types from Small to Castle are being sold on the forums all day long. If you cant place the house you want, buy it.

At least on UOSA you can still place a small house any time. If this were 1999 T2A you would have no chance to place anything at all.

The tears cried over this topic only serve to slightly dehydrate those who cry them, nothing more. Get over it.

Like Anarcho said, if you think someone is a cheater, report them. It wouldn't be the first time someone has been banned for more than 3 accounts.

I think the issue is circumventing the rules and policies and not the "lack of places to place a house". I'll admit the housing limit was never something I agreed with even back when I started. Even someone who wants to collect property for the sake of collecting should be happy with 10 at most. 5 if I made the rules :)
How can you properly report someone if you are unclear of the rule in place?

I think thats the biggest question I have in regards to home hoarders. Its one thing to buy property to flip for a profit (normally a smart investment) but its another to just own random spots and never do anything with them, never offer them for sale and never use them. Is owning these spots like owning rares?

If you want a certain house that appears to be vacant just be patient and wait. One of three things will happen.
1) the owner will get bored quit and it will fall or
2 they will eventually sell it cause they are tired of refreshing it.
3) save your gold, track down the owner and make them a ridiculously generous offer on the house
Either way you can end up with the house. It just depends on how motivated you are to own it!

It just seems to me that people are jealous of those that have big houses and want them for themselves (who wouldn't) and want 15 of them.
All I am saying is be patient and you too can become a house hoarder!

This thread has absolutely nothing to do with owning nice houses or even the real estate market at all, really.

I created this thread to address the fact that quite simply it's very easy to "own" as many houses as you want if you bend the rules a bit, despite there being a "15 house rule" in spirit. The question becomes why is there an effective housing/character limit when anybody can bypass it using the methods I've already mentioned.

my 2 cents, and a easy fix things.

Its like the same as "Taming" pigs that use spots 1000 chicken to keep spots and I have 0 place have a animal/anything.

"IF" charged will "fix" stuff.... week : 1 = 100 gold a week, if 2 things then charge 500 gold, then 3 things then 1,000, gold if 4 then 5,000 gold, then 5 then 10,000 gold, then 6 = 50k, 7 = 75 k, 8 = 100k, 9= 1,000,000.

*(the amount is wrong, but just understand the away to "fix" any hogs. )

And use / set as IP's and not chars... then the point, they will loose money on the table and it "will" fix the problems.

my cents.
