What are these?

Post by y2a »

I've come across a couple of "campsites" in the woods. Both had an NPC in a cage asking for help. One was surrounded by ratmen, and one by red NPC's labeled as brigands. They each also had a locked chest at the site. What are these things? Is there a way to "rescue" the NPC from the cage or open the chest?

Town bulliten boards have postings that lead to these random spawns, what your supposed to do is lockpick the chest to get a key and then unlock the cage for the npc, and then you can "escort" the npc to wherever.

Good way to make quick cash and magic items as a new player if you're into the adventuring aspect. The required lockpicking skill can be bought from an NPC and if you have 100 STR you can easily survive the chest trap. Found a couple of power weapons and tons of ID wands when I was starting out.

You can also just do Magic Unlock + Telekinesis. I don't think you even need GM magery for them, they are level 1 locks I believe.

If I'm not mistaken it's 50 Magery to open a level 1 lock. So there you go.
