I LOVE this shard

Post by riant »

I just want to give a shout out to what Derrik has accomplished.

I love this shard.

I put up a vendor two days ago and have sold 15.7K in goods. This is economy is real.

I've been PK'd twice. The danger is real.

I love you GG, you blue murdering m--th-f---a whoever you were. I love that I was your stepping stone to going red. I'll figure out this Razor s--t and hit you back some day. I got cash and plenty of time to macro my GM skills up.

I love the bard spots and getting to know the other gold-diggers.

I love the griefers.

the farmers

the businessmen.

There's newbies, crafters, viking-like killers, business monarchs and large guilds (I see thos WmD's EVERYWHERE). It's like a dream finding 1997-1999 at it's height. It's all here in the pixel flesh.

It's like a time-machine and in life that's truly a very rare treat.

I admit I had a few beers in me at the time and when I read it back I definitely see the slap-happy factor, but I still stand by it. I think the clincher for me is when I saw my vendor stuff selling briskly because setting up vendors was a big part of my pre UO:R days.

Still . I agree on some point.THis shard might be a duplicate of the 97-98 Era .But nothing will ever come close to anything like OSi in 1998 . MMORPG was a new thing.Just having internet was *something* . So playing with thousand of people was very unique.Today not so much .

in 1997 it's when i had my first internet connection .It's also when i started to play game diablo 1 online. So imagine my stupefaction when i logged for the first time in Ultima online. With my super fast 56 K with limited hours per month.Which also occuppied my phone line.

It's was new .. fresh and cool. Now mmorpg it's basicly a mainstream thing. You can't compare anything like 1997.In 1997 Dalnet was very popular :P . Mp3 and mirc script everyone? Its was the *cool thing* .

So much changed . Haven't played uo since a long time . Actually 11 years .I'm playing mostly because of nostalgia. But it's not like before and it's wont ever be.

I'm one of those WmD's

And you're so right about the shard. More like the 1998/1999 era of UO than anything I've seen since.
