The house deeds are newbied now. Buy as many deeds as you need, and trade the high priced item for those deeds. Sounds safe to me.

Im not talking about house deeds. Im talking about houses that are already placed and trying to be purchased. But yes, that is a good idea for using house deeds to buy a high priced item. Unfortunatly, this wont include anything thats under the price of a small house deed.
What he was saying is, use your gold to buy house deeds, then use newbied house deeds as cash for the already placed house =)

Say goodbye to people buying houses already placed, people buying mares and other high dollar items. There will be to many scammers taking advantage of this. I know I wont be buying ANYTHING that is a large sum of money. Or selling for that matter. Now, if gold didnt weight so much on a person, that'd be a different story, as in you could carry 100000 or more gold, w/o anything else in your pack, sure. But like i said, say goodbye to people making big purchases. Only idiots would put a massive amount of gold on a pack animal to be gated to aplace w/o guards. I predict many people will quit, due to Matron De Winter and other griefers who are probably creaming thierselves now that they have many other avenues to greif people. :|
You do realise that the introduction of brokers due to the lack of a sufficient means to transfer will increase the security on trades? At the very least it brings a third, trusted, unbiased party into the deal, to make up in areas where some peoples knowledge may lack. Why would anyone put gold in a packhorse to trade when pets/followers themselves have no means of secure trade that would suffice? Clearly you are in no position to be making predictions.

Additionally, give me an example of any grief I have caused without reason or personal gain? You can't even spell it correctly.

Wow ! id like say great job derrick and the rest of you who can remeber that far back, you must eat your weatys, also i think it makes the shard very uniqe in the fact that this was the best time to play or so ive heard... Well Done oh and as for buying things you can use house deeds to trade for high value items other than house but im guessing there willl be a demand for people like me to do fair trades.everyone knows me and my keep i think. but id be happy to help anyone in need i do bleve my repution as a no pker is well astblished and the hudreds of free items and gold i give out stands as my backup....Allso i think removing trophys completly from ctf and DD is a bad idea weather it was era acurate. maybe through 4 or 5 trophy games a week, i can understand the number of trophys out there prolly needs to be curbed, maybe even make the tope 5 people or something on the wining team get a trophy hmmmm? something to think about. the trophy thing is the only thing that looks like it could realy hurt :D

Oh boy, your a real winner eh? Pointing out a typographical error when your 'trying' to mutter a response. Very elementary. But, I think I'll lower myself to your level for a second, just because I think this is funny as hell. When you try correcting someone in spelling, make sure all of your spelling is correct as well. 'Realise' is spelled 'Realize'. But, I bet you had to bust out your 'Dora the Explorer' starter dictionary to see if grief was spelled correct before you opened your childish mouth. As for your sorry explanation for griefing, that's what ALL griefing is. For personal gain/reasons. You just stated the obvious, congrats. As for the packhorse, if you would read correctly, I was responding to another person's idea of doing that, in my response.
And I was using a house as an example, tard. There are MANY other things to buy with large sums of money, other than already placed houses. But you can't do anything but grief people, so I wouldn't expect you to know what a large sum of money looks like, much less that you would know what to do with it. (I bet that also applies to you knowing what to do with your **** to. Bet you still don't know what to do with that either.) Quit being a little boy trying to play 'big boy', fuzz nuts. Before you rant and rave about your age, I'm talking about your mental state, not your physical age. (I had to point that out, to make it easy for you.)

As for the subject at hand, I am saying that bank checks are the best way to make a large purchase, period. Not house deeds or any other rigged way to have a secure transaction. And not only is bank checks secure, but....oh, wait for it....you can get the EXACT amount you need! Imagine THAT concept, Matron. Wait, your sorry excuse for a brain can't. Oops.

And to Derek and the staff, keep up the great work on the shard. I posted that first response to this patch because I am just concerned about the honest players of this shard, that's all. I may not like the idea of not having bank checks, and I'm sure many other people won't either. But, you guys are the ring leaders here, so whatever you guys feel is the right thing to do, so be it. Have a great day!

It really seems like the guard changes have made them overly sensitive to being called. I think it should be toned down a bit.

Making house deeds newbied is 50000 times gayer than doing that to the runebooks for real.

And if we're doing era accurate to the point of being anal, where's the vanqs on the noble escorts, and fix our z axis or whatever it's called so we can use boxes and e fields to jump.

And one again newbied runebooks + housedeeds is making this one step closer to trammel and the constant nerfing of the thief class is going to take the fun out of SA for me.

Did you even play T2A?

Newbied house deeds were in T2A since Apr 1999. Long before trammel.

I probably shouldn't let these kind of posts get to me but it gets tiring hearing people cry about things they know nothing about.

The guards get teary eyed when you call them. I think it has to do more with MJ's death than any new patch. Lots of people are very sensative right now because of the same thing.

Newbified house deeds is a silly idea, especially given that there is room to place houses all over the place. Why not give it just a little bit of risk. Fall on the other side of the fence by considering other factors which are shard specific.

This is the issue with picking and choosing what is 'era accurate' and something I think Derrick wants to avoid.

Newbied and non newbied house deeds are, in fact, both era accurate. Hell, there was even a period of time where they existed at the same time (New deeds were newbied, re-deeded ones were not) however, to have non-newibed house deeds in the same shard as newer features creates a situation that never existed on OSI. It also puts Derrick in the position of being a game designer and having to justify his 'custom' T2A experience.

The situation can grow into heated areas and work to destroy the shard's reputation of being a true and accurate copy of OSI's T2A.

I agree 100%. I was very reluctant to put in noob deeds but consistency within the era needs to trump my own personal bias.
