Server froze, not the actual server application but the computer in the data center it is hosted on froze.

Something to do with a bug in Shell32,

This is why we were still able to make it to verifying account.

Sorry about the downtime overnight guys, it was a kernel fault.

This particular error when the server just stops with no further information has only happened 1 or 2 time previously in our history, and never before with such bad timing as this.
