Patch 105: June 24, 2009 - Major Era Mechanics corrections

I agree 100%. I was very reluctant to put in noob deeds but consistency within the era needs to trump my own personal bias.

Aren't Vet rewards Era Accurate?
What I have read on the subject:

To a large extent I feel the trophy turn in system fills much of this void. Most players who are turning in trophies for unique items have been here quite a while.

I agree, I think the trophies are a great replacement for vet rewards because it means that people who get rewards actually play. Having rewards based on account age is pretty stupid in my opinion because you can have an old account without having ever truly played the server.

So I raise again the age old question, why are vet rewards not in the game? Not trying to be flippant, just era accurate.

Though I miss my vet reward horse or black dye tub I believe they were not instituted until 2000 or even 2001. I checked the patch notes for Feb. 2000 back to August 1999 and didn't see anything.

The etheral mounts were not T2A. I remember clearly how excited the orcs were when bola's were introduced (because we feasted on that many more horses) and how disappointing it was when they later introduced the ethreal mounts thus negating bola's effectiveness.

I can't believe Vet rewards are even debatable for being accurate.

Veteran Rewards
As a way to reward loyal UO subscribers, Veteran Rewards were introduced in late 2001. Each year an account is active, credits are given which can be used to select rewards. In the beginning, there were only rewards for accounts up to 3 years old. This has been expanded all the way up to 9 year old accounts. Rewards may be traded and sold, but only accounts old enough can wear and use them. All Veteran Rewards are Blessed and display their year of eligiblity.
