i bought several accounts BECAUSE of housing, and the ability to get my "own plot" of land. I was one of four dragon tamers in early great lakes, I was friends with Sintil Wintil, the one guy on the server with the ancient wyrm. Kievan could probably back me up on knowning the AW guy.

I don't know about any of you, but the game was not scarry or hard for me when i was 17. I farmed with 4 dragons the moment i could, and taming was all I did every time I loged in until that time.

Farming gold was easy, my friends used to joke. Nik would ask Kyle, Hey whats the easiest way to make money in UO? Easy Kyle would say, as he loged into one of my accounts and droped 10k on the ground.

I bought the houses next to my tower which i put up way way before t2a. Then I bought all of hidden valley, and a castle. So there you have it, only 2 accounts and 10 houses. Then i bought a third account to buy and sell houses, i used a third account for fear of being banned.

Fact : Houses and accounts with multiple houses were bought and sold during 1999 t2a.

Fact : Some of us play here. I believe Nox is another PA broker, If he had played on greatlakes we would have done buisness together.

I thought the whole point here was providing proof that your claim is Era Accurate? Not e-peen stroking about how rich you were, how many accounts you had, and who you knew. I don't see any other thread here where "I remember it this way" was good enough, everyone else provides proof in the form of documentation, unless it is impossible to find said documentation.

So, does anyone have any proof one way or another? Or is this all going to be debate based on recollections?

What in the name of Cthulu's great tentacles is wrong with you? That's exactly what he's doing. Do you fail at Reading Comprehension that badly or are you just pretending to be this soft?

If he was doing all that that he says he was doing during T2A, then it doesn't take an astounding leap in cognitive judgment to see that it's Era Accurate.

Try looking up evidence to actually refute someone. That way, you won't look like such a braying jackass when you saying something like:
Hawkins wrote:I thought the whole point here was providing proof
And then go out of your way to make sure you don't do this yourself.

Mephistopheles, take a chill pill man. My reading comprehension is just fine, and I've checked again to discover that no one has posted a single link to support either side of the argument.

Now, I didn't post any proof because I do not have a side of the argument. I am just trying to remind you all what constitutes "proof", so that perhaps this issue can get resolved past the flame war you seem to be intent on starting. You can use all the colorful language you want and post your memory like it's the gospel, but it doesn't change the fact that so far no one in this thread has any proof. Until they do it will continue to be a test of who can flame the hardest and nothing more.

No, that's not how this works.

Currently, the system implemented here is one of 15 houses/character.

To say that this system is "inaccurate" requires the people who have taken that stance to provide the evidence to support their claims.

In other words, tekai does not need to provide any evidence beyond his word.

Until these people find some patch notes what they're saying is falsifiable.

As much as I hate to this update post supports Tekai's statements:

http://update.uo.com/design_418.html
The 'pre publish 16' part at the top.

Stratics is prob inaccurate but for info:
http://uo.stratics.com/homes/guide/5-co ... uses.shtml
Bottom of page.

Also, I remember the grandfathered house thing and am looking for documentation to support it though I still support the one house concept.

Perhaps all of this happened in a contested time period?

The whole approach on your part is rather ironic. Refuse to do the work in finding the information yourself but rebute anything that is presented to you.

I have to go out today, but If I had time I could easily come up with each and every patch note that talks about house limits, house per charecter, and owning multiple accounts.

do a google search for UO Condemned house, im sure that will prove it for you.

And does it really matter to begin with?

There's still so much f'ing space for housing.

You know what else is era accurate?

People selling their realty.

If you played back in T2A, you know that there was not a single space left after a certain point and all you saw all day at WBB was people spamming:

"NICE LAKESIDE FRONT SMALL HOUSE FOR SALE X PRICE"

See, now we are getting somewhere constructive.

Also, I found this, which seems to support multiple houses per account, and is pretty close to our chosen Era cutoff.

http://uohoc.stratics.com/logs/2000-01-06-pub.shtml

"Glamdring - *Stark* After the 1 house / shard rule comes in, do you plan to take out minor rules in the house placement requirements that are silly, such as grasses blocking placement?
SunSword - We're definitely examining the rules for house placement right now. We're looking at the possibility of modifying the rules. If we do find that this is possible, we'll announce it on the website. "

Here is an excerpt from the UOR publish patch notes regarding the housing changes:
One House per Account per Shard
Players will only be allowed to own one house per account on each shard. The system will not be retroactive and current house owners will not be forced to redeed houses if they have more than one.
This is a clear indicator that housing was handled on a per-character basis during T2A.

This discussion seems to be happening in several places at once O.o

One thing brought up in the other was that 'inactive accounts' did not allow houses to be refreshed and that helped to clean up old houses once a person quit. Whether this was a T2A feature is debatable.

Since we don't pay for our accounts, inactive would have to be determined another way. Perhaps if the owner doesn't log in to his account in 1-2 months its flagged inactive and refresh stops?

I know houses were one of the big UO 'ploys' to keep people paying.
