Connecting and Staying Connected

I read a couple posts about this already, I'm running client version 6.0.14.2 and have been playing on another sever. I'm interested in trying out new severs and created an account here. I got the account created and played for about 1 min two times before the game ceased. Now I can't connect. I'm living in Taiwan but have no trouble loading webpages from other countries. Any ideas?

Ok, i was just in my e-mail and found I need to type in some kind of authoriztion code but now I can't even connect to the game to do it.

There may be some additional issues with the latest OSI client that I'm not aware of, we are currently supporting both client version 6.0.14.2, and previous clients back to 5.0.8.3

Some people especially under vista do have issues with the in game music, you may need to turn it off, but this really shouldn't be a problem on the latest client.

When you say you can't connect at all, what is happening?

It would load up to the point where I select the character I created, but the game would not actually load and show the picture, just a box. I'm actualy in the game again now. It seems it's not just this shard, cause the other shard I was playing on is also having the same problem. So I'm thinking it's razor, the uo game or my location in the real world.

This is the behavior of the recent EA client patch which you cited that you were using, however we were pretty sure we had this fixed.

To connect to us, or to most other free shards, you may need to revert your client, and unfortunately, this can only be done properly by reinstalling.

Ok, thanks for the help. I'm thinking about uninstalling my current version using the windows XP tool to add/remove programs. Will that hurt my character on this or another shard?

This will not effect you characters, as they are all stored on the shard servers themselves.
You might want to make a backup of the folder called "Desktop" that is within your "Ultima Online" folder, as it contains all the positions of your spell and skill icons and macros for each character. The "Ultima Online" folder may also me called "Mondains Legacy" or similar depending of which version of UO you initially installed.

I uninstalled the UO 2D and reinstalled it using 1.46.0.3. (The same thing I originally installed a while back.) I did not patch it at all yet. I'm still not getting to connect. It says I'm using 6.0.1.10 (patch 72) in Razor.


Edit: Ok, I've been able to connect a few times but I lose connection or run really laggy.

We had some lag issues this morning prior to the transition to our new server. The old server culminated with one last crash this afternoon.
