Automatic refresh for stabled pets

Post by purplehazze »

I just recently lost a large number of my nightmares and dragons b/c I couldn't refresh my pets while I was out of town. I remember stable masters withdrawing the gold directly from my bank box. Was this feature added in later or is it era accurate?

They do withdrawl gold, but only for a short duration of time so you are required to unstable/stable them to keep them refreshed. Sorry to hear about the loss.

Eulogy for purplehazze's pets:

This is indeed a sad day for all of us. Purp has lost such great pets. I think sharing our grief would help us ease our burdens.

These pets may have meant something to each and every one of you. But to Purp, they were his guardian angels. I remember when he was at the Brit GY he often got into fights. People used to tease him and his pets didn’t want to see him get hurt so they tried to protect him. They were also his only confidant. With them Purp could do anything and they never disobeyed or left their master. They always had this trait where they could always turn a dull party around. Let’s just be thankful for all the special moments that Purp's pets have left us. And with that, I hope that all of these pets will continue to live on within our hearts and minds.

Auto refreshing pets is not compatible with a stabing system in which the maximum is on the stable, and not on the player. Eventually all stables would become full of the pets of inactive players.

I make sigs for 10k

Something like Derricks would only take me a few mins to whip up.

Personal sigs are more my style, your own screen shots can be used to add more than just your name to identify yourself. Just about any graphics from uo can be added also.

I wouldn't pay 10k for the sig you are sporting. It is way too big, the screenshots you appended to it are pointless and boring.

Stabling
If you say the word "stable" to the trainer, he will offer to keep the animal indefinitely in exchange for a small fee withdrawn directly from your account.

Is claiming working right? Or am i claiming wrong...i named my horses after the color of the horse so i could type "claim white" and just get the white one but as it stands it gives me all my animals and i have to restable them all...I miss claim list. So how do i just get one animal out?

Because reconstructing your sig wouldn't take 2 seconds at all. The UO logo still has a black box around it ffs. And wow, you pasted in 2 screenshots, resized them and put some text on your sig. MAN, YOU ARE SO HARDCORE.

Hey Purple, in the typical fashion of in era UO... im sure you could pay for the services of another tamer to house your pets while you are away.

Hell, I'd do it for free for you if you run into the problem again...

That being said, a few months ago i had to leave UOSA very quickly due to RL and on top of many idocs i also lost all my favorite colored horsies and flying lizards... :(

I'd ask if you could elaborate and explain point blank the stable system as it works right now. I'm sorta new, an AI refugee, and just visited a stable after reading this thread. Both my forest ossies were gone - one had been been purchased/stabled in the last week and the other I had had for months but stabled in the last week so I could just walk around. What you described above makes no sense to anybody new here.

Thanks for any input.

Aye, sorry for the confusion.

Our stable system is much more similar to the stable system on OSI in the T2A era, in that there is no maximum number of pets that a player can stable; the maximum is on the stable itself (On OSI it was on the actual stable master).

So if you stable a pet in the southwest Britain stable, he cannot be retrieved in the north Britain stable, you need to go back to the stable where he was left.

The stablemaster will (as he says) stable your pet for a week, after that time the pet is "sold off" (read as Deleted).

If the stables become full, no more pets may be stabled there by anyone.

Just to be even more clear... To refresh your pet, you simply claim him and then restable. Then you have another 7 days before they will be deleted.

So if at anytime you dont claim/restable a pet in a 7 day period (like the OP) the pets will go *poof*. :)

This is only for pets in the stable. A pet your are mounted on will never be deleted except for perhaps by a pk :)

I make it a rule to refresh pets every couple of days. It is not unheard of (and was certainly era accurate) for a crash to cause a small time warp ( < 15 minutes) and if you were unlucky enough to refresh in that time period you would be screwed if you waited another 7 days to come back.

Hope it helps
