I believe the answer is here, if i answered incorrectly please forgive
When you play with fire, there is a 50/50 chance something will go wrong, and nine times out of ten it does.

Yeah I red that thank, but it never described the ping pong/perma red system that was in T2A. I've red some threads but its mostly speculation.
I found these links though:

I want to reiterate, that everything that can be construed as in era is up for discussion, unless one rule clearly conflicts with another. Something like the Dex healing bonus I personally thought was a good move on the part of OSI, unlike many other changes that came about this same time. Smelting was not in game for the majority of the period either, but I think most of us agree that it's a positive game element, while perma-red, which also came in around that time is probably not.
I just wanted to clear it up because people like Malice like to hang out with his ghost/gimp/noto-pk accoutns in the TK Balron spawn area - This is the 4th time I have to macro some time away - this time after Malice executed his gimp after he already killed me. Oh well, guess I'll have to make a ghost account to keep up with the times. Thanks for any help with the clarification!Derrick wrote:Aye. they added a ping-pong rule towards the end of T2A just before the release of UO:R such that if you went back and forth between blue and red too often you would become permanantly red. It was rescinded not long after the release of UO:R

Re: Quick question. Is there perma red?
No, at the moment there is no perma red.
Re: Quick question. Is there perma red?
Silverfoot is correct, there is none as of now.
I am assuming there will be since it's era accurate when Derrick gets around to doing it though.

Ahh, the patch that killed player justice.Derrick wrote:This was introduced in March '99:

I was part of a guild back then called the SBR on LS that was a collection of mostly non-PvP'ers who wanted to do something about the jerks in the game. We'd take advantage of our numbers to gank jerks regardless of hue (red or blue). Once the long-term counts and ping-pong counts were added that all came to a stop. So blue looters, blue blockers, blue noto pks, etc, could all do what they want with little fear of attack from other blues.
It didn't kill the guild, but it sure wasn't the same after that.

Are Perma Red characters subject to statloss though?

Re: Quick question. Is there perma red?
Its the standard red rule set, its just after going red then blue 5 times (has anyone accually ever done that?)
you never go blue again. Counts still work the same way, and once your shorts burn off you can go pk again.
But in realialty, its really easy to noto and burn off the counts. I've killed over a hundred people on bina and shes sitting a 6/38 or something. just stay online

Honoring a dead red transfering karma...does that work? And if so does it affect time/counts?

Short term counts determine if you're in statloss or not.archaicsubrosa77 wrote:Are Perma Red characters subject to statloss though?
Long term counts determine if you're red or not.
The answer to your question would be yes since all characters are subject to it with 5 short term counts or more. The only thing perma red does is force your character to be red even if your long term counts went below the limit of 5 that would normally turn your character back to blue at that point. The goal of perma red was to reduce blue pk'ing since short term counts can easily be macro'd off with very little ease compared to long term counts. If you ping pong 5 times with your long term counts you should be perma red no matter what state your murder counts are in game.
