Treasure Map Chest Decay

Post by Lor »

I've noticed that treasure chests left to decay haven't been doing so in what I thought was supposed to be their 3-4 hour timer. Also after solving a tattered map and not being able to use it due to lack of decay the map becomes useless after the server restarts, which is very annoying if you have a level 3+ map that is blocked by a chest that isn't your own and won't decay...

Why does the map become useless after the server restart?

I've stored decoded maps for weeks on end before finally going to dig them up, never had a problem.

Although I will agree or whatever that the long decay time is a pain in the ass, and even if it is era accurate it should be changed :p

Maybe the map not working after restart was a fluke, I don't know. I'm going to time the decay today though.

The chests are supposed to decay after 2 hours I believe. Considering I have 3 maps to the same spot, maybe the chest decayed after you left and someone else dug up theirs before you returned later.

It may be helpful to know that the person who dug up the chest is able to take an axe to it.

Well it's been 5.5 hours and the chest is still there.

I usually destroy my chests, but you can't destroy other people's chests, so if someone is not thinking they could cause a large inconvenience to other treasure hunters.

Best thing to do would be to page using the help button on your paperdoll.
I often had to page to have chests removed back in the day.

I tried that awhile back and whoever was working at the time said they couldn't move the chest; that I needed to wait for it to decay.

Ahh, not all staff has the ability to move it. I suspect they did not count on it sticking around so long.
